Title: 2 new rod and reel combo reviews
Post by: kbyers on July 15, 2011, 09:17:42 PM
So I made the mistake of stopping in at Cabelas a couple weeks ago.  I picked up a couple new rod and reel combos that really impressed me. Both are Cabelas Tourney Trail IM 7 rods.

One of them is a medium light 4-10 line weigth 1/8-1/2 oz paired with a Pfluger Presidential reel for drop shotting and jigging. I really like feel this rod has.  I had the reel spooled with 15lb braid and I have no problem feeling everything while jigging/drop shotting in 30-40 feet of water.

The other is a medium 8-14 lb, 1/4-5/8 oz paired with a Quantum Accurist. I got this one for casting cranks but found that is works really well for pulling worm harnesses too. Had the reel spooled with 10lb Trilene.  This set up did a great job casting my lighter top water plugs.  It also handled 1/2 oz cranks without any complaints.

I was really surprised how well these rods fished and will be buying a couple more in the near future.  I think the rod I just bought for cranks might get dedicated to walleye fishing

Gotta love when you go to cabelas! What lake do you mainly fish on?

Living in the Tri Cities my number one spot is the Columbia, Yakima or Snake rivers.  But Scootney, Moses, Potholes, and Banks are always fun.  I have been trying to find some time to get over and try the west side lakes, but so far that hasn't happened.
