Been going crazy already, can hardly sleep and its still almost two months away. Got up at 5 am today to head out scouting. Found my honey hole from last year and used the machete to spruce it up a bit. Jumped 2 small bulls on the way in. Saw a nice buck to. This spot is a true elk hub in the nastiest, thickest swamp in an alder patch surrounded by jack firs that guys walk around non-stop. Put out a salt block and an Apple block about 5 yards off two four way elk intersections. Rerouted a couple trails , dropped off the game camera, and now all I need is everyone else to come push the elk around to me as they almost always escape through this nasty hell hole where my tree stand will be. That's my plan for the first week. Went to Cabelas, REI, and the local hunting store today and got the rest of the gear we needed to do a 5 back pack in trip for the second week. Been riding the bike, packing with a ruck, or playing full court b-ball every day for 4 four weeks getting ready. I fully intend on being among the 10% of elk hunters who kill 90% of the elk. I'm not there yet as I haven't got one with my bow in the two years I've been a bowhunter for elk, but its never been for lack of effort (btw... id never go back to rifle or muzzy, you go don't know what your missing) Anyone else going as insane as I am?

I am! Picked up my trail cam last week and had a couple nice bulls on there. I have been archery hunting the last few years and really enjoy it but am goin muzzy this year because the bulls just seem to bugle more and are way more agressive. At least in my area.

Ya im gettin stoked too. Was up camping and was flinging arrows ththis last weekend, had to re broadhead tune the bow since i had work done too it. Just got back from flingin and seeing if all my arrows wth the bh's are flyin straight. So everything is a go. Goin up wed thurs to do some scouting and seeing what intel i can gather.

I'm there with you! Been having the elk hunting dreams already. I'm considering going into hibernation until hunting season so I don't have to face the rest of this anticipation, oh, and the 3 month break from work would be nice too!

Yup I am loosing it as well. I sometimes get up real early on my days off and just sit outside because it reminds me of mornings in elk camp.

I can't take it!!! :drool: I neeeed to go hunting! Went up to check the trail cams this last weekend and I have lots of pics. Bulls and cows. One of my cams has only BULLS, but I don't have a Bul Tag :( Overall, many more branch antler bulls than I have seen in years. Lots and Lots of bear crap too. Two cams got pushed around by bears. Also saw a real nice 3x4 Mulie w/long eye guards, plus a nice 3x3 w/short eye guards. Can't stop dreaming of filling at least 3 of my four tags during the early archery season!
Going to pick up a new 5th wheel (used one, but new to me) next weekend too. Cant WAIT!

Im all packed up and heading up tomorrow morning when i get off work and do some scouting till friday mornin. See what i can see.

I have been in "can't wait" mode since end of last season when we were bowhunting deer one week after late elk season ended and 5 elk walked past me at 30 feet. 1-5 pt, 2-4 pt, 1 spike and a fat cow. I have been getting up at 3:00 am to go scouting since it gets light at 5 am. September seems like 6 months away still.

I lost my anticipation for elk hunting because I went INSANE :dunno: :chuckle:
