Title: Quick question
Post by: Donaye37 on July 19, 2011, 04:10:41 PM
When you let your dogs out of the box and they git the trail how do you train then to stop tracking and head back to you or the truck. Is there a way or should I invest in a gps dog collar?

Before you ever take your pup hunting you should have basic obedience down pat, they should heal, and come when called, right when called, not when they feel like it.  You can train them on a short leash first, then a longer check cord and then you can nick them later on with a e-collar.  This is the short version, but it gives you an idea on where to start.  Alot of hounds and beagles would be in that group will have a one track mind when they are on a trail, but they can be trained to listen and obey when you call them off a track.
