Haven't heard much on the road conditions up that way. I know the Chiwawa got hit some so probably the same over that way.

I am heading over this weekend and plan on hitting a lot of the roads.  I will report back next week what I see.

Roads are all good and everything is still pretty green. I wouldn't worry about fires.  Deer seemed to be scattered out more than usual. Do u have any idea of the general area u will be going? I could give u  a better update.

Might see some does if you go over now, but I bet most of the deer you saw in march were migrators waiting for the snow to melt to head back up high.

Very green or white for that matter up there at the moment.  I wouldn't be too worried about fires this year.   Deer aren't nearly as high as they normally are.   Scattered is a pretty good description.

The high country bucks are hanging around 4500 to 5500 feet as the snow slowly melts back.  We believe there is an increase in locals that stay in the good forage from the 88 and 94 burns.  General season hunting has improved in the lower half of the valley; partly from more deer "short stopping" in the elevations below 5000 feet and also it is easier to spot and stalk in the dead forest.  Tree planting (fir and pine) is beginning to provide some escape cover for deer and the growing young trees are beginning to compete with forage plants; it is a changing world.
