snuck into one of "secret" spots and found this little guy, followed him into the timber where there was another bull and about 10 cows, sat there and watched them for a few minutes and then the other bull bugled twice! Good bugles too...must be horny! :yike:
-
I was hiking in the Nooksack last weekend & I heard a couple Bugles myself.

With it being so cool this year they might kick into things sooner. We will have to wait to see

awwesome! Ill be in ID in unit 18...deffinatley keep the ears open

I was out riding my mountain bike, checking some trail cameras and was stopped by two bugles. I stopped, made a couple of cow calls, and another bull bugled back. :IBCOOL:
It was a full bugle with no chuckles.
45 minutes later, I was stopped by ANOTHER bugle! Seems strange for them to be sounding off so early :dunno:
It definitely gets the blood pumping! Can't wait till Sept!!!
-
Isn't that bad news for us elk hunters? I sure hope my tag gets put to use this year, and I'm counting on rutting bulls in september. I'm also counting on the dumb 6x6's too...lol
-
Not too unusual given that they usually establish who is in the area in early August; a roll call per say. They do bugle all year.
-
the shorter light in a day will kick the rut in,temps will only be a factor on how much activity during this period if that makes sense..The same works for me,nuts will drop around Sept 1st,urge to chase the wife around the house with a curled lip,Sept 4Th then its game on...well sort of,denial by the spouse will activate my urge to rub,and the of course urinate on the belly, roll in the mud, then bugle about the area with great despair.. :chuckle:

Yea then have some guy come along and stick ya :chuckle:

Nice picture. Helps to have a nice spread when it come to scratching yourself.
-
Good pic Norse. One of these days I'll have these kids raised and we can get out. LOL
-
They do bugle all year.
:yeah:
A bugle is just a form of communication, they do it all the time, even cows bugle sometimes.

I heard a bull bugle 4 weeks ago today. In the toutle.
-
Camping out at bumping lake about a month back I woke up to an elk bugle bout 4 in the morning. Heck of a lot better to wake up to than the alarm clock
-
I am excited to kill one this year. I went scouting to some of my spots saw lots of elk but no bugles. I like to hear that they are getting vocal.
-
17 years ago the weekend after the fourth of July we were camping at Pierre Lake in the N E corner, hotter then hell out and we heard bugles up on the Mt. above the Lake. I think it just feels good to bugle some times. BTW, it was in the evening when it started to cool down for the day.
-
You can hear "locater" bugles year around... I have heard them in December, June... you name it.
-
You guys sure it wasn't just someone practicing bugling :chuckle: ;)
-
Never hear one a sound whole my life. :bash:
Mulehunter. :chuckle:
