Title: Des Moines Pier
Post by: hawksfan75 on July 22, 2011, 11:44:53 PM
I was just wondering if there's any chance in hell of getting a fish from the Des Moines pier? I don't have a boat or friends with one, so I am stuck on the shore. If the pier is not good, are there any other shore places I might be able to catch a salmon from the shore?

buzz bombs get em all the time there. Fox island peir is a good place , but make sure you have a drop net to make sure you get your fish up all the way. long way up to pull a fish sraight up. good luck and dont give up.

When I lived in Seattle, I caught a few fish from the Alki pier on Point Wilson Darts and one accidentally from the Edmonds pier (20 lb salmon, rubber jig for rockfish, and 4 lb test).  Fought it for about 30 minutes before it broke me off on the pilings.

When we lived over on the west side we used to fish that pier alot and catch alot of fish, but would have to say the funniest time on that pier is when it is squid season thats a blast.
