WDFW seeks applicants for positions
on game management advisory council
OLYMPIA - The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is seeking nominations for its Game Management Advisory Council, which advises the department on issues including hunter-access opportunities, resource allocation, funding options and research projects.
WDFW Director Phil Anderson will appoint five new members to the 22-member council, which also makes recommendations regarding implementation of the department’s Game Management Plan ( http://wdfw.wa.gov/conservation/game/ (http://wdfw.wa.gov/conservation/game/) ).
Nominees do not have to be affiliated with an organized group. Nominations must be submitted in writing with the following information:
- Nominee’s name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Relevant experience and reasons for wanting to serve as a member of the advisory group.
- Nominee’s effectiveness in communication.
- Name and contact information for any individual or organization submitting a nomination.
Nominations must be received by 5 p.m., Aug. 31. Nominations must be submitted to Dave Ware, Game Division Manager by mail: Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 600 Capitol Way N, Olympia, WA 98501-1091; or email at David.Ware@dfw.wa.gov . For more information, contact Dave Ware at (360) 902-2509.
New advisory council members will serve through June 2013, and should be available for advisory committee meetings beginning as early as December 2011. The council holds at least three one-day meetings each year. Special meetings may be called when special issues/topics arise. Upon request, council members will be reimbursed by WDFW for travel expenses to attend meetings.

Interesting. The group that nobody ever heard of until last year when they gave their support for the WDFW's proposed changes to the permit system.
I think we need somebody on here to apply for that position.
I nominate Bearpaw.

Thanks bobcat, this had been mentioned to me by someone else and I appreciate your faith in my judgement on wildlife issues, but I really am too busy to properly serve at this time. These positions need people who can devote the time for meetings at any time of the year.
I wonder if we have someone else on the forum or in WFW with the kind of time to devote? We could certainly send in a nomination from the forum or WFW.

Yeah, figured you wouldn't have the time needed for the job. But there must be somebody on here who is eligible. Someone that can keep all of us in the loop.
-
I think we need to reach out to some of the existing mebers of the council... I would love a fireside chat with someone who has experience in that... :twocents:
-
I hope they come up with some people who have the fortitude to question skewed information, poor management, or reductions in opportunity.
-
I thought this needed a bump.

Just a reminder, anyone wanting to apply for membership on the GMAC (Game Management Advisory Council), the deadline is August 31st at 5:00pm. Hopefully someone from Washington For Wildlife or the Hunting Washington Forum will have the time and the interest to apply.
