Title: No bears, not unexpected.
Post by: DoubleJ on August 01, 2011, 09:24:02 PM
Well, went out tonight and blew the fawn in distress call for 2 hours.  Placating my son more than anything.  I had a pretty good idea there were no bears in the area.  Couldn't even leave the house until 6:30pm though so, wasn't expecting much.  No bears, or even coyotes (surprised) but we did get 3 VERY pissed off does within 10 yards.  I didn't tell my son, but the second one, I actually had the safety off on the rifle because I thought she was going to close the gap.  She was PISSED OFF!!!  I could see the snot dripping from her nose as she stomped and snorted.  First time in my life I was scared of a deer.  This bodes very well for my Sept. 1st archery opener though.

They sure do get pissy when they hear that. Thought I was gonna get run over by a few cow elk once. Nice work.

No bear for me this evening...I did give a coyote something to think about however. :chuckle: :hunter:
