Title: Humpy fishing in the Mighty Skagit River SUCKS!
Post by: grandpawrichard on August 02, 2011, 04:01:22 PM: Two Days out fishing for 6 hours....first day with 3 people in the boat; today 2 people and we Only caught 5 limits of fish with about that many limits of lost fish! >:( :bash: ;) :) :D :IBCOOL:

The fish are hugging the bank! :) They are absolutely Hammering Brass and pink tipped Miracle Lures! :) All are absolutely Chrome Bright and still have Sea Lice on them! Talk about WILD and Strong little buggers! :) All the ones we have caught so far are weighing in at 5 pounds 6 ounces to 6 pounds with only one small one that weighed 3 pounds. :)

I have to go out and slave away again at fishing tomorrow with my wife, then Thursday and Friday back out with my adopted daughter and her hubby. :( ;) :) The on Saturday I have to go out with a friend of mine and his wife. :( ;) :) Finally, to end the week out I have to fish with my wife again! :(

I tell you, Retired Life absolutely Sucks! :( It's darned hard work bringing in all those fish! :( ;) :) I'm going to have to buy another punch card pretty soon if this keeps up! :)

Post by: grandpawrichard on August 02, 2011, 06:45:32 PM: Thanks guys! :) I'm fishing the stretch of the river at the Gardner Road boat launch. :) The bankies at the soccer fieds in Burlington near the Skagit River Steel shop were catching almost as many as we were in the boat. :) The trick is to stay in within 10 feet of the bank. :) That's where the fish are running due to the river being so high and swift.

Is there a camp ground type area near young's bar?. my son is out-a-town so I will be homeless.

The Indians have their nets in the river, so fishing is ULTRA-SLOW right now. 5 fish in the boat Monday for 3 people and 6 hours. Tuesday 3 fish for 3 people and 5 hours. Today 4 people in the boat for 5 hours and we got 3 fish. :(

Bight thing is the nets come out tonight before dark, so things should pick up tomorrow. :) All the fish we have been catching are Chrome Bright and all have Sea Lice on them, so the fish haven't been in the river long! :)

Post by: Bearhunter on August 17, 2011, 09:20:41 PM: I caught 5 tonight in about an hour, under the Hwy 9 bridge. Seen several nice kings jump and roll as well. My 3.5 year old and i were jigging pink jigs with a hoochie skirt over them seemed pretty productive and lots of fish rolling around! :twocents:

 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM Wednesday, August 31st.
Area 8 Skagit Bay will be open to purse seines during the following dates and times:
 6 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, August 30th.

A Friend of mine that I haven't seen in about 15 years and I went out this morning to fish and enjoy each others' company. :) We hit the river at 0-Dark-30. In 2 hours we had lost 6 and boated 8 fish. :)

All the fish were Chrome Bright and still had Sea Lice on them. :) Here's a photo of my friend with a couple of his fish:
