Title: Hwy 504....Maratta Creek
Post by: Mr T on August 05, 2011, 04:42:39 PM
Up exploring for my cow elk archery tag draw in the Margaret Unit yesterday.  When I got up around the Maratta creek area I began to get the feeling that this is an area I would like to spend some time scouting.  However, where the gravel road turns off there is a big sign about no tresspassing, hunting, etc.  After exploring looking again before and after this road I did not see any other signs about no trespassing/hunting.  Any help would be great.

One other question:  Is it legal to park and camp with a small camping trailer along the highway?  I know it is not ideal but we have always tried to camp and hunt right out the trailer door.

Thanks in advance for any info.

You better look at the privat land boundries. There is a BIG chunk that i sall private up there. If you are on state land you should be fine for camping but there isnt much of it up 504.

PM me as well if needed. Basically it's all private just East of the head of hoffstedt (sp ?) creek east to just shy of Miner's Creek and this is from the highway North to just shy of the Green River. Check the Cowlitz county GIS web site as well as the Skamania County site to actually see which parcels are private. I heard the patrolled it last year pretty hard and do not let anyone on the property! It's a big chunk of great elk country but there are other areas. Good Luck!
