If Washington won't give me a spring bear tag I'll go spend my money in Idaho :chuckle:
I'm heading over near the Bitteroot for a week, leaving tomorrow morning at 3am. Should be decent, a little bummed b/c the weather has been in the 80s. We were gonna go 3 weeks ago and the place we were going was still under to much snow :bash:
Thinking about doing a little calling as the elk should have calved :dunno:
I'll give a report and hopefully some pics when I'm back. :)

Well, I've got lots of pics but nothing with a bear in it. :'(
We hunted our butts off, nothing and I mean NOTHING, not a pile of poo, not a track. After Saturday we moved to Clearwater and some sign but nothing much to speak of. Do the Idaho bears go on vacation in the spring /summer?
I had some high expectations b/c of how well I have done in the past in E Wa in early August.
I did run into a guy from Idaho fish and game when we changed units and he told us this year everything was unusually green b/c of the late snow melt and that gave the bears a larger area of feed and they wouldn't be concentrated in the river bottoms as normal.
On the plus side for the guys who hunt elk in that part of the state, there looks like good calf numbers. And I saw a good number of deer also.
In the end it was just good to get away, I also saw a couple of badgers and what I believe was a smaller wolverine gave us a visit in camp, so that was cool.
