Title: Weyerhaeuser land
Post by: Martinhunter on August 11, 2011, 11:31:34 PM
So how likely do you think it is that weyerhaeuser will close their gates before the 7th. It's been pretty mild this summer so I'm hopeing they'll keep them open. I want to be able to get into my honey hole a month from now.

All of the Pe ell ground is off limits to the public unless you have a friend that works for the company and can hunt with them. My dad retired with 42 yrs  and had a hard time getting that pass and key ,  I worked for them for 15 yrs and could not get one so good luck.

Are they locking it up because of fire danger or just locking it up? Does this mean foot traffic as well?

You can walk on weyco land without a pass, and one of the big reasons they're locking up a bunch of their land has been due to LOTS of vandilism and theft off of equipment, in a way, ya can't blame em.  :twocents:

I don't believe this is true.  My understanding is you must have a pass to drive on their land.  Other than the employees, retirees and some "good friends" of the bosses you cant get a permit (you would think stockholders may be given a permit???).  Each pass is good for three people per vehicle.

Hey Jason, can a guy still walk up into their land? If we can walk but just not drive that would be much better anyway.

You can still walk up into their land. The permit for employees allows them to drive in, but anyone can walk in.

You can walk in to any of there properties. They may restrict vehicular traffic, but they have never restricted horse, bike and foot traffic that I am aware of.

I heard a contractor up Rock Creek had 22k worth of rigging stolen and that was why they just locked all that country up.  (It was already planned to be locked up but is now ahead of schedule because of it)

Was upin the PeEll area this weekend. Gates are locked up tight. Old gates that have always been open no matter the red/yellow/green dot signage, were locked closed. They updated the old gates with welded on new heavy duty protection boxes for their locks sporting new yellow paint. The old gates were even outfitted with new welded on sign holders to post their access info. No signs on them yet though.

At least I know what's closed for Archery season so that i can plan accordingly.
