i just got a dozen dekes that need to be rigged..the spot where i hunt is about 20ft deep....my question is, is there a way for me to rig them all together and be able to throw them all out at the same time??? i know i can rig them with those clips but it would be hard to do while im on land.... or maybe even do 6 and 6....but i want to be able to throw the dekes with out getting into the water.....any ideas??

Kidding. The rigging shouldn't be the tough part, the retrieval if your sting gets hung up is where you could have some trouble. How about a little fishing float ring you could pack in?

Typically this is done with a long line and clips. It can also be done with a short leader and clips attached with no droppers to avoid tangling. If you have a dog or have to motor through the spread you will want 18" - 4' droppers to the main line. This is the best approach for the deeper water or individual lines on the decoys that are 25' long each. Just a lot more work. I have also done long lines from shore. Start at the tail end bird and clip towards the anchor. I attached a second line to the anchor and while my buddy held on to it, we would pitch the main wait out about 10-20 feet. The second line was to pull the weight back to shore. If you are in a boat or raft, drop the anchor and clip heading towards the tail. Leave enough to double anchor. Best of luck.

so i figured out how to rig my dekes if anyone cares......
i took a small anchor with a eyelet in the top, 200 ft of rope. put the rope into the eye then ties the ends together. now hook your deke to it how ever u want.....when deploying throw the weight out, keep the rope in your hand then pull the opposite end of the rope to pull the dekes out. then when your done hunting pull them back in... then pull the weight in... if it gets stuck untie the rope and pull it through the eye... only thing lost is a small anchor :IBCOOL:

That will work, but all the decoys are in a line, not in a group. You could use long decoy strings and throw them from shore and use a casting rod to retrieve them. I gave away a rig that I bought from Texas years ago. It was a "Y" shaped tubing with foam floats on the tips and had a long floating plastic rope attached. You could throw it easily 30- 40 feet and hook decoys to pull in. It also came with a small edition that could be cast with a fishing rod.
