I have purchased some CAMP DRY to spray the exterior of my gortex lined boots and my non water resistant day pack, and cotton camo pants. Any tricks or pointers from people who have done this before or any other products or techniques that are recommended from past positive results? T-minus 8 days.

I use it.
Spray with several light coats, not just one heavy

Start now and let it air really well. The smell lasts for days. You don't want to do it at the last minute.

Don't expect miracles...it will keep you dry in "damp" conditions, expect to get wet and have the water eventually soak through in the rain or wet ground. :sry: A shoe "grease" will work better on your boots.

Lots of different types of waterproofing available, but the best advise I got was to "Bake" it in. basically set your oven to the lowest temp. usually 150 to 170 Deg. Set you boots or clothing in the Oven and bake the waterproofing in. I usually do this when the wife is not around though :chuckle:

For many many years I used Snoseal to waterproof my boots and yes, I baked them in the oven after coating them with the sealer. The first time this was done to new boots I coated/baked them a couple of times to saturate the leather. This would waterproof the boots for the season guaranteed. The last few years I've started using Nikwax instead of Snoseal, it's supposed to be better/recommended for formed leather boots. I coat the boots same as with the Snoseal by rubbing it in with my fingers and let cure over the next 24 hours paying particular attention to all seams, I do NOT bake the boots with this product. According to the folks at REI this product is supposed to breath and is recommended for goretex lined boots. All my boots are goretex lined these days, but I still want the leather waterproofed. Many years ago I was elk hunting around Mt. St Helens. It snowed heavy every day of that trip and I had my first pair of (new) goretex lined boots, not to worry about wet feet. What I didn't know was that the outer leather would still get soaked and the second morning of the hunt my boots were frozen solid, I had to thaw them out with my feet. That wasn't much fun...NEVER again. I waterproof my leather goretex lined or not and that's all I have to say on THAT. Live and learn...or is it learn and live?!

i used that camp dry last year and sprayed a whole can on my boots. it stunk for like a week even after i put them on the heater vent. and they were still leaking :bdid:
