I forgot all about taking this photo a few months ago in Northern California. My wife and I were watching these elk and one was chewing a bone for several minutes. It looks like it might even be from an elk. Not sure why he would do that. Munchies maybe? :drool:

maybe he's worried about getting enough calcium to support all that mass hes planning on growing.

I have not looked into the regs yet but might try to get a tag next year down there. We saw quite a few big boys. I spotted this bachelor group napping close to the road so I drove a ways, grabbed the camera and stalked as close as I could without jumping them.
