Title: Deer #'s in GMU 124
Post by: jollyskwala on August 29, 2011, 09:02:29 PM
Hey guys,

I've been out scouting and knocking on some doors to get permission to hunt. I'm not seeing as many deer as in years past. Hearing the same from landowners. I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same? Thx.

I spoke with a biologist on Friday. He told me the deer numbers are doing well, as compared to the last 2 years in GMU 124. He went on 2 drives last week and with the change in weather he and another biologist counted 150-175 deer, while not even looking for deer( they were on a grouse survey). He also said the buck to doe ratio is strong. Good luck guys!!! getting close.

My cousin just whacked a 124 buck tonight . There are plenty of deer, they are all holed up in private ground. Get permission and you will do well
