LOVE HUNTING THE SAGE BRUSH FOR THAT 4 POINT MULEY WITH MY SMOKE POLE JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY ELSE IS NERVOUS ABOUT LATE WARM WEATHER AND BIG NUMBERS OF RATTLERS NOT DENNED UP YET!!!GOD FORBID I HAVE TO HUNT THE FOREST :'(

Yup! Last year was the first time I ran into any. (Four in one day!) If it's hot they'll be out there.

I ran into a dozens and dozens of them on DNR land north of Sinlahekin Wildlife Area. It was insane actually. I was focused on getting closer to some deer and not listening. was glassing and moving from tree to tree. I then "woke up" and heard a rattle. I stopped and then listened. Well I was surrounded by rattlers. Literally. It took me an hour or so to walk out of there! Made it w/o getting bit but wow.

I wear snake gaiters when I hunt sage in sept.  Almost stepped on a fat rattler couple years back in knee high grass.  It hissed at me before rattling, I jumped about 6 feet straight in the air.
