Title: Unconfirmed sighting Newman/Hauser area this AM
Post by: highlander on August 31, 2011, 08:48:49 PM: My son was in the area this AM, said there was a lot of police activity near the stateline. A trucker said they were keeping tabs on a fairly large pack of wolves. Has anybody heard about this?

Post by: highlander on August 31, 2011, 09:04:57 PM: Sorry. Newman and Hauser lakes are just east of Spokane. There have been sightings of lone wolves in the area, but never a pack.

From a 2009 newspaper column

just learned today, that a breeding pair of Wolves was frequently seen in Hidden Valley, which lies north of Hwy 53 and south of Hauser lake, last winter.

Post by: bigdave on September 01, 2011, 11:32:20 AM: I drive by there everyday......I pulled over for the sheriff to go by about 7:45 yesterday morning.

The Elk herd that ranges the stateline area has really grown the last couple of years. It would not suprise me to see a wolf in that area.
