Hey i have a bull elk tag rifle hunt for the Bethel unit. Does anyone have any tips they can give me, I have never hunted that unit before. Also how big of elk should I realistically expect to see and shoot. Any help would be great.
Thanks.

If you see a 5 or 6 point shoot it

My suggestion would be to get out there and scout. You are not far from that unit at all so only a few trips would help a great deal on your success. There are a few big boys that hang out in this unit you just have to get away from the people and with this unit (like most others) its hard to do. I would also suggest that you use the search feature on this site. No introduction???

I have been in there a couple of times last month. I saw some sign of elk but never actually saw any animals. But your right it is hard to find privacy in woods anymore.

It's easy to get away from people. If you get ffarther than a mile from a road you won't see anyone. The later the season the better. The elk start out spread out in that unit. After the pressure the elk move away from the roads where people are not. You'll either be in elk or you won't. Go to a nasty spot far from a road and find a spot that has feed cover and water near by. With hunting pressure the elk will go to places without people and places where they don't have to travel much to get what they need. This will be a great year for you since a lot of roads are closed.

Is this the September rifle tag or general season tag?
