Title: Winthrop muley numbers
Post by: npaull on September 03, 2011, 03:22:22 PM: I am going to be hunting the second deer (antlerless) Methow permit on a friend's property a few miles north of Winthrop later this month.

Just wondering what people's observations of the deer numbers in the valley this year have been like. A few years ago it was crawling with deer, but hunted it last year and although they were around, not nearly so many.

Post by: throttlejocky20 on September 04, 2011, 02:40:38 PM: Just got back from there lots of deer. Spent most of the week in the wilderness. Had one evening and one night hunt down low. Couldent seal it on a real nice 3x Got busted twice and less than 60 yards (thats bow hunting and I love it)

Post by: Martinhunter on September 04, 2011, 02:50:36 PM: Just talked to my brother an hour or so ago, he's a few miles north of Winthrop right now for a week hunting as well and he said this year so far seems to be alot less deer around then last year. they've only seen 1 legal buck so far in the 1st 3 days. Could be the heat though too.

Post by: throttlejocky20 on September 04, 2011, 03:01:48 PM: The heat defently has something to do with it opening morning i seen 11 bucks 3 were legel (two 3x3, one 4x2) and 18 deer total and I was off the hill by 930 went out this morning and only saw 3 and none hade any bone to show.
