Title: 2011 Idaho Honeyhole Pix
Post by: Ranger91298 on September 05, 2011, 07:12:59 PM
So I must admit I have been pretty greedy with you all... I get my fill from everyone else posting pictures of their animals or gamecam pics but have yet to post any of mine. My dad and I have a "honeyhole" back home in Idaho. Last year we got over 600 pictures in a wallow of elk/deer/moose but I never posted them since we never were able to harvest anything from that location. I got onto a few bulls but could not seal the deal. Well this year I flew home from Hawaii to set up the trailcam in the "honeyhole" again this past June. My dad checked the gamecam a few weeks ago before the opening of archery season and there were a 1028 pictures. He just sent me 9 pictures from it to tease me until I can get home for opening of Rifle season next month. Here are a few of the pictures he sent to me....

Unfortunately we only got the one picture of the bull on the left... he looks to be a toad with the way the right antler goes a ways out from his body... your thoughts?

In this picture you can see the big boy off to the right hand side behind some brush but you can't see his antlers.

This is a unique set of antlers... it has the 4 points growing up at the top... now in this picture he is a 5x6 but the picture if from July 15th, 2011 (NOT 2010) so is there a chance he grew even bigger? I have read that the antlers can grow as much as an inch a day and he still had another month to grow right? He even has a little mass to him...

sshhhhhhh.  Idaho is not usually like that because the wolves have killed most of the elk off.

Funny you say that because there is a known wolf pack that lives at the top of the mountain that this wallow is on...3/4 mile straight line distance

Yeah I think your right, Blkbearklr and I were just talking about it a few days ago... wondering if it is the same bull that is missing his antler in the other picture.

its tough to tell cause the cam far away and the angles are so far different. either way, kinda cool to see that. wonder how he lost it completely that early
