Decided to try a new area for opening day and it worked out!! On the way there we saw a cow with a spike and a spike by himself so we knew we were in the right area! After biking in a few miles we ended up walking up some skid roads to try some calling. I went up one, my brothers up the other. Well they ended up calling in a bull that was thrashing trees and moving back and forth chuckling at them at 48yds. They couldnt get a shot because of the brush and the bull was moving, so the bull ended up losing interest and wondered off. So we all backed out and went up the road to give him some time to forget about us. Since he was so hyped up we figured we could get him to come back in, we were right! We went back to the spot but a little deeper in the woods and set up. We did a little calling and the bull came back in thrashing a tree. He started to come up the hill toward my brother but at the last minute turned toward me and eventually gave me his broadside at 25yds. There was so much brush that I had to be carefull to pick a shooting lane without my arrow hitting a branch, and when I finally had my spot, released my arrow hitting him perfectly!! He ran about 75yds before we heard him stop and start thrashing around, and when we heard him start coughing we knew we had our bull!!! After pictures we started the work and got everything back up to the bikes and trailer for the pack out. I tell you what trying to ride a bike with and elk head and hide on your back while carrying a bow isnt easy!! Our bike trailer had three quarters, neck, backstraps, tenderloins, and all of the rib area in it and it is only rated to 180lbs!!! We went way over that and it actually handled it pretty well. The brother with that trailer also had the back half of the hide in a pack frame, two backpacks, and his bow. He thinks he is tough or something. Perfect elk hunting trip! :cue: :archery_smiley:

Congrats on your continued success. Nothing wrong with having a brother who wants to do all the work. :)

Man, you are just too lucky. What is your secret - lighted nocks? Expandable heads? 99% let-off? What is that I see, Captain Kirk's phaser set to "kill" taped to your stabilizer? :chuckle:
Seriously tho, nice work.

Nice bull. Congrats.

Congrats on a great bull! Good job.

I have those same bike trailers. Those things are AWESOME and can handle a load very well. Nice work on the bull!!
-
Nice shot placement! Wondering why you didn't cut off the legs? Every pound helps, even when pulling it on a trailer. Great looking bull, congratulations!!
-
We have one of those bike trailers too! Love them!

Thanks everyone! We were in a hurry because of the heat so we just skipped that part. 3/4 of the two miles back was downhill or flat anyway. We would have gotten pics of us on the way out, but nobody had extra hands! And no there were no tazers (or flashlights :chuckle:) attached to my bow. Just good ol slick tricks and easton axis. :IBCOOL:

Yeah that ones going to be hard to beat, but to tell the truth I was just as happy with this bull and hunt as I was with the big one. The big one I was alone, this one I was with family that called it in and got to see everything. So it kind of equaled out! I dont pass on any legal full grown bull or cow, and was just lucky enough to get two bulls. I am the caller for our group now, but still have a deer tag, got my eye open for a buck!
-
I would feel the same way as you man. Congrats
-
Nice going! That's magic.
You bike 2 miles, let'er fly. I hike 15, not a peep. Sigh.
Today, you are my hero.
Good luck with the deer tag as well.
