I leave thursday to head up to the lewis river unit for my hunt that starts on monday. I sure hope that it cools down. I have made 5 trips up around Mt Adams and have yet to see the class of bull iam looking for. It should be fun I just hope I can find a good bull.

Good luck to you! Sounds like the bulls aren't doing a lot of talking right now but the cool down should get them going. Should be down in the 70's next week

I am jealous.. did you get the Lewis tag or the Mt. Adams Wilderness tag????
Good Luck, there are some big bulls over there by Adams...

The weather will change and you will hit the rut just right. Hunt hard and you will find the bull you are looking for. Good luck and shoot straight. ;)
-
Well, in a week you get to shoot one. Don't wanna see all the big bulls when you can't shoot. Good luck.

Good luck and take lots of pics

Do you know how to call in elk? It's the peak of the rut at that time.

buggle to locate , then work your cow calls after cutting the distance down , alot of the bulls I've found have pushed there cows when buggled to and the smaller bulls seem to come more to the buggle .

Hunted in the Lewis unit near Adams for early archery. Had a bull responding to us on some cow calls. But he was not wanting to come in. He was hearded up cause we heard his cows at one point during the chase. Each time he responded to us he would progressively move his ladies away. We threw everything at him but the kitchen sink and just could not get him to show himself :bash: We dogged him for about 2 hours. Eventually he shut up and we never heard him again.

Hope you kill a big one. Need a caller give me a call.

What is a guy to do when this happens? Get in front of them?
