I'm new to Elk hunting. I've been hunting deer for a few years, but never see any elk. Where is the best place to go on the eastside of the state?
-
The mountains are usually where I go to find elk. :chuckle: In all seriousness, I would try first by introducing yourself and not just asking for hunting spots on your first post. :bdid:

The Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife website has harvest data in the hunting/management section. Use as many resources as you can.
-
Cle Elum, Ellensburg area, Yakima area, Naches area, Packwood, Toutle, Randle, Raymond, Naselle, Forks, Sequim, White pass area, Crystal mtn area, The Blues. How's that for helping out ?

Right next to them trees over by that big hill over yonder is where I find them. :chuckle:

Probably the best advice so far.
Except a lot of those areas are not on the eastside, which is what was asked for.

Lotta elk up at c-post. Since it is "any elk" you gotta get there early to get some parking.
-
Montana :chuckle: :chuckle:
No seriously though. Look into colville national forest. get away from roads and other people. listen for some bugles, and make sure its not a moose!

Thank You, Spookgus that info was very helpful. I did not realize that the harvest reports where out on the web where the general public could see it. That helps me decide on a starting point, and could save me alot of wasted fuel. Now I won't have to look behind every tree on the eastside of the state.

:chuckle: :chuckle:  hanford has the biggest elk in the state!

Quit sending people to the BLUES!! it's spike only, it is not a
Good elk area unless you have a special tag. If you like watching bulls run by and camping then go for it, I would go on the west side or ne wa. Steer clear of spike only areas.
-
I'd have to say Colorado. I think that's your best bet. Seriously.
-
hanford would be a great place to go find a monster bull... let us know how that works out for ya :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I tried to hunt Hanford tonight. I didn't even get over the gate before I had someone hanging from my leg. They don't like hunters down there. So now where?

As funny as that sounds, there is more truth to that than you'd guess. LOL

Still being fairly new it is not my place, however...there have been at least 5 other threads started on the forum asking the same question
Top right corner there is a search function, it can and will be your best friend on here. It will avoid these guys having to type out C-Post for the 200th time :chuckle:
