After a couple of quick day trips I finally get the chance to leave for the next 7-10 days to try and find a great bull. I really contemplated sharing this hunt (East Elk Raffle Tag) but seeing all the great stories it reminds me what makes a great forum and community and brings us back to the site. Therefore I will update with pictures and anything worth sharing.
Thanks to everyone who has posted pics and their experiences so far........

go get'em!

Good luck! Make sure you kill the biggest bull in Teanaway! :chuckle:

WWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAtTTTTTTTTTTT? Are you telling me that rafflemule drew an east side deer raffle tag last year and an eastside raffle elk tag this year? How did I miss this?
-
I don't know but you did, LOL. :chuckle:
-
Sorry I can't be there Brad. I am taking that disabled hunter this week .. You will do fine I am sure.. Go get em
-
good luck ! where are youi headed
-
Good Luck! Don't pass one the first week that you'd shoot the last week. Tag soup for a raffle tag would suck.
-
Good luck with the raffle tag and keep us posted. Good lord I'm not sure how I'd handle a raffle tag. I'm pretty sure I've never passed up a legal elk, cow's, spikes, raggies, if they were legal I simply killed them. But a raffle tag, ooooooh boy!
-
Good luck Brad!
-
Hey brad , I just got back from the blues, saw some good bulls but nothing worth your tag. Good luck,Your in for a fun hunt !! Wish I could make it over but I have to hunt my permitt.
-
Coach, Charlie just confirmed my reasoning for skipping the Blues. They are all dinks with jacked up head gear. Nothing there for me to shoot.
GoldTip, you wouldn't eat or sleep. That's how you'd handle it and it only gets worse come Dec.
I just don't know what's going to fail first.....My marriage, heart or liver!
-
Brad,,,,I've been watching a couple for you.. Waiting t oget a good picture to send. Dink's like you said.

You're a good guy Rafflemule.... :twocents:

Brad im sure it's worth your drive to the blues . My new bff can't hunt there so we have to settle for the lil 300 gmu dinks . I know where theres a herd and the satilite bulls like a 350-360 class bull mr bigs timbered up in a hell hole so we are gonna leave him for a back up plan , good luck and keep that liver healthy , Coach.

Thats a bit of an understatement.
-
Heard Brad was seeing lots of bulls today.. Nothing huge yet thou..
-
Report from Brad:
"Very little rutting. Seeing lots of smallers bulls. Saw a masher last night late but couldn't get to him."
Sounds like fun. Good luck Brad.
-
What unit is he hunting?
-
Woody, you know the Brad? I'm wondering what I should tell him. I don't know if'n I could even help but I've learned a little bit about that area this September...
-
Tons of small bulls so far . No mashers was the report yesterday

Good luck.

I will not forget that phone call. I called him a liar and told him that was not funny. He said what a I going to tell my wife. :chuckle: I didnt believe him for like a week. I didnt even want to talk to him actually. :chuckle:
You know your welcome to visit me on my Teanaway hunt but I get to shoot first. Since I have a muzzy and you have a rifle. :chuckle:

Chilly and rainy over here today. Should be a good day to get them talkin'. I am bedridden with a killer cold, but it looks promising up that direction... :dunno:
-
There was more movement this weekend but very quiet. Talked to Brad for a few minutes, he is very disciplined. ;)
-
I'll try to get some pictures uploaded later but thought I would give a quick recap.
I think I missed the ideal time by a week. The elk were pretty quiet and all of the big bulls we saw weren't interested yet and all by themselves. It didn't help it was 90 degrees everyday so we rarely saw anything between 9am and 6pm. We did see 40-50 bulls on the trip and three over 350'. One was a potential shooter but couldn't do it just yet. I may regret that one..... :dunno:
-
Can't wait to see the pics, sorry I missed you.

I don't think you missed much of anything Raffle. They were just quiet this year. We had a guy in our camp in the Blue Creek Unit that ate his branched antler tag. The weather just didn't have them talkin' much. I did spend a day in the Dayton Unit. We saw two bulls and couldn't get either one to make a peep... :dunno: Just a tough year. Keep at it...

Where's the pics man? :dunno: :)
-
:yeah: :bash:
-
Oh Rafflemule where's them pics buddy? 8) We wanna see.

Alright here goes......the elk pics are a little shady because they were digiscoped but as you can see Huntinphool is great with a camera.
-
The first three are of the same elk. He came out just before dark and nearly a mile away. He looked great in the setting sun and all mudded up. We didn't have time to get to him before dark and didn't see him again. I'm not going to throw out a score but let's just say he was a shooter in my book. We got him on video and when we watched it later on it was apparent he was a stud.
The last pic is of a nice 6x6 bedded down that went about 360........
-
great pics, pretty country  awesome bulls in the Colockum
-
Yes he DOES go about 360! Dam! Thanks for the pics! Nice job Phool.
-
I had the one bedded down in my crosshairs at 475 yds standing broadside. He was small compared to the other one.
-
I still say you are waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy more disciplined than me.
-
:yeah:
-
Drool...just gonna sit here and drool...
-
Wish I had your trigger finger. You know I will have ground shrinkage with my bull in Dec. :chuckle:
