I hads to run lastnight over to the Mannashtash to move camp due to a fire 1/4 mile away . last week we caught two guys with a camp fire in that spot and some other jerk hunting and smoking and tossing his butts all over the trails . Come on guys lets use some common sense out there it's a tinder box.

my nephew & bro-in-law just took a crew down to Oregon last night to work the fire near Sisters. I posted these before but if you want fire info go here, the 1st link is a map for current large fires in the U.S., the 2nd is the current incident report that goes into detail about where they are, how big, contained vs controlled, etc, etc, you may have to hit refresh to get them current if it's been a while, they are updated usually @ 5am daily

And you wonder why the timber companies close their land to hunting during fire danger.

Common sense isn't common anymore.
-
about 2.5 miles west of watt canyon
-
ya got that right, common sense done went right out the window, in this day and age you would just assume that common sense or not that ya just dont do that kind of stupid crap
-
havent been over in few weeks, but our camp is up that way.. Is or was it a big fire?
-
looked to be 100 plus acres , i'll check this weekend
-
Sorry to say I Saw many guys on motor bikes smoking this week. Also found several cig butts on the roads and trails. Not even going to get into the number of F'ing idiots on motor bikes riding on closed roads, trails and in areas no bike should be. Saw a Plum Creek Rep and game warden discussing this issue. Was able to give them several license plate numbers.
Would be a real shame to see these areas shut down because of these actions.
-
Yep, people need to take more responsibility in there action. Had about 6 Russians on bikes pass me on the road last year, i was walking out in the dark and they flew by me. They where also up on the ridge shooting there guns while i was muzzy hunting.

This article says it was 9 acres:
Fire near Joe Watt Canyon under control Posted: Wednesday, September 14, 2011 9:08 am
JOE WATT CANYON—A wildfire that started Tuesday afternoon in the Joe Watt Canyon area west of Thorp was under control this morning, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.
The fire was about nine acres this morning and fully staffed by wildland firefighters who carried it through the night, said Mark Hayes, manager of DNR's Central Washington Interagency Communication Center.
-
thats good only nine acres , the forest guy told me 100 , quiet abit of smoke , way to close to my camp for sure . I know they were on it quick with three choppers and two cats .
-
it only take i idiot to ruin it for everyone.
-
Glad that it sounds to be in hand! I'll second the amount of idiots ive seen up hunting!! >:(

Why is it that smokers are the last group of people that get to litter any damn place they please? It really pisses me off to see smokers just dropping butts everywhere. Don't know how or why they think they get that special treatment to be able to litter at will...

Exampls: Boeing made it's property non-smoking. Now all the smokers go outside the gates and smoke on the Renton sidewalks. The city of Renton is always getting on Boeing because of all the cigarette butts on the sidewalks, and I do mean a bunch.... it is ridiculous.

Same thing for the Boeing site where I work. As a matter of fact the butt littering is one of the components that helped Boeing decide to ban tobacco products from their property.
Smoke if you must but for those who still don't get it that non-smokers don't want to see your butts on the ground or have land and property put at risk by your careless flinging of butts I just don't know how you live with yourselves. It's beyond ridiculous. Be responsible!
-
reminds of "Hank" from Me, myself & Irene, "hey Ringworm! you gonna pick up that butt? or do I hafta stick it to the end of my shoe & put it in your big, fat, pimply @-#ole?"
-
The other one that kills me is people hanging cigarettes out the window of the car while you are behind them, ever see what hot ash does to car paint? 90% of roadside brush fires are started this way. The world is not your ash tray.

If someone is following that close...I'd say there are two idiots in the equation.
