We will be taking off on a Wyoming deer hunt on Sept 29th. This is a little earlier than we had planned but somebody drew rifle special permit and it made me change my plans a little bit.
Has anyone been over there early for the opener? Our plan is to go as high and tight to the wilderness boundary as possible. We know of some areas that produce later in October (when the bucks begin to migrate), we just don't know what to expect on Oct 1st. If anybody has any info such as buck quality, elevation we should be hunting, etc... I'm all ears

I would go look around on MM. You should find some info there.
-
I'm on there right now, but not a lot of info on early deer. Also, everyone I know goes over there late.

I have never talked to anyone that has ever hunted it that early. I know one guy that has hunted F a few times (always at the end of the season). I'll see what he says about hunting it early.

Hunting early in the season can be a bit tough. If you can hold out until later in the season you will see a ton more deer once they start migrating down. I have hunted it early and late. Good luck.

That's what I figured. Oh well, I will go over there and hunt my but off.

Ive heard there are no deer in Region F ?? :chuckle:

I'm in WY right now hunting muleys in the high country. 11k is where we're finding the better bucks.

I have only hunter Regions G and H. (Little Greys). Not sure about F, good luck!

Heading over with my son for the opener also. I would love to go over later but have two other kids modern hunting here so I have to be home for that. It should still be fun. We have never hunted Wyoming so I hope we can figure it out when we get there.
