I know of about 4 big bull tags around here also, hope they get them filled with some nice ones first. My hunting partner has one also, and i have got some good tips on "where we should camp" hope he gets a nice one.

I'm having a stupid thought... I'm kinda regretting that I never went after that bull. I was going to on Monday morning, and Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. However my hunt was cut short on Sunday afternoon...:dunno:
I guess I was in his area for 4 or 5 days early in the hunt, it coulda happened.

The Mossback boys can play dirty all they want, this is a small area and some around here dont play nice.
You want to play nice, hunt fair chase, its all good. These good ol boys around dont like being pushed around in there back yard.
As for me, I dare any pecker head to get in my way and tell me i cant hunt on public land. Who ever has the tag, its been rumored in town that they are trying to buy there way on some land with some top dollar stuff but got shot down.

Like i said, got some good leads on where some nice bulls are, ill be checking on them again next weekend. Trying to help my partner all i can. I have had eyes on a large herd, hoping i can keep up with them.

Talk around here is he is willing to throw the cash around, however this is Dayton and you cant buy us with cash.
Spend some time around here, make some friends, volunteer some time, do some good, and you could have the world around here. There are still things money cant buy and i hope no land owner caves into the green.

That would be nice if it were true. You sound awfully angry. I love dayton people, Woody's is the best and I can pretty much get anything I need at the DQS!! However 20K is a rediculous amount of money...

I agree with most things you say but locals have been bought the last few years. hopefully just a select few and it's not a growing problem.
I hope your buddy does well the right way :)

Well not the one the Gov tag was watching but a nice bull was taken earlier this week, 9x6 i think it was.

Who ever the people are that are looking for the bull for the guy that has this tag, they should have the license taken away for all the treaspassing they are doing. From some of the land owners it sounds as if these guys think they have the right away to whatever they want.
I hate to say it but I am starting to be glad they are shutting down all the hunting with permission, or better said not giving permission to hunters.
with some of the things that i have been hearing i think id be walking my fence line alot and very armed. What ever happen to respecting someones place.

First off I say I believe you but be careful I was basically  told I have no clue what I am talking about with the tresspassing. Thing is  are the land owners calling it in. I am sure the warden would do something about it if they would..
Anyone got  pic of that bull?

I only know what i have been told. When i lived at home we had the same problem with trespassers every year, so if it is true  do feel for the land owners.

I do have one pic of the bull, however i was never told it was ok to show it. I will wait till it is ok, and or the pictures start to spread around.

I know guys who were with the auction guy last night. They said they were still hunting, no dead bull and they were going home for a while. One of the Mossback guys was with them, they were all in camo and no blood. They were coming from dinner.
 :dunno:
I suspect the auction guy is still hunting, and so is Brad.

Toyman, only to rattle your cage...
You are complaining about MB trespassing everywhere around there (sounds like you don't like them...)
However you are one of the first to have a picture of the bull, where did you get it?
Are you friends/acquaintances with one of the MB guides?
Did you commandeer a photo through a stealth mission to peek over the bed of the pickup?
Seems strange that you're so anti MB yet you're close enough to have a picture of the bull before anyone knows that it was shot...

I'm bored so what say you? ... "Well allow me to retort!!" -SLJ

PS: I was really close to where MB was hunting and never really had problems but I'm not the owner of the land they were trespassing on, if I owned/leased land and had a big bull tag I would be irate if somebody with the Gov tag and a rifle were trespassing on my land!!

PPS: I hope the one that I got with a bow and arrow during archery season is bigger... probably not  :(

I have nothing against anyone, other than those that wont or dont respect someone elses personal property. I dont know who these guys are and have never met them however if what i am hearing from land owners and locals is true then i guess yes i would not like what they stand for. this or that has nothing to do with the MB name or who the people are, I dont just hate those trespassers(if its true) i hate all trespassers equal.
The bull i have a one bad pic of is NOT the Gov tag bull, it was a local guy that got a sweet draw. Yes I am friends with the guys in this small group/family and he did get a nice bull that had nothing to do with MB, he got that bull from hard work not buying it.

I love to see pics of people getting nice bulls, however if you dont get it using ethics, respect, sportsmanship, and hard work then I personaly have a gripe about it. Keep in mind this is the way I feel and I am not speaking for anyone else. Even though i dont care for the GOV tag I do like to see the impressive animals.

Exactly. Was I supposed to google his moniker to gather that information? Or does everyone except me know who he is and/or what he does? Maybe I missunderstood, I thought he said that the Gov tag was filled... perhaps it was a bull taken by someone who didn't pay 100k for it.

So if MB is tresspasing on private ground and you know they don't have permission why dont you tell the owners of the land and have them lay the law down on them or quit bitching about it!  I think the fact that MB spends more time in the woods then others makes everyone jealous and helps them find big bulls!!! FYI I fill my tags and help my friends and family fill theirs too.  And usually they are pretty nice bulls and bucks!!! Like state record bulls (Nailbender)! and BC bulls and bucks and State record Mountain Lions!!!  key to each of these hunts was SCOUTING and years of hunting the same areas so I know them well and have friends that scout hard too...

Not saying that MB is ethical/or not  cause I never have had a problem or heard first hand a complaint about them. just saying!!! if you scout alot and hunt hard and have high paying clients to support your Gas bill well more power to you... get off your computer and find your next trophy!

Hunter I agree with you buy IF they are trespassing then they need to be punished and charged. Just cause they can hunt and have money doesn't give them the right to think they can do whatever they want. All weve heard on here is talk talk talk about them but no proof and nobodys been written up. Imyself dont agree with the gov tag anyway. I don't like that guys can just buy the tag and shoot a big bull. Put in for the drawings and do it like the rest of us. All the guys that scout and put in the time watching the big bulls and dream of getting drawn and then some rich guy .swoops in and shoots it. I don't believe paid guided trophys should be allowed to go in the record books. Get out and earn it yourself. Its more of a trophy when you do.

mossback is a guide service that no one cares for....   :chuckle:

and the gov tag is an auctioned elk tag in wa.  I've heard all sorts of rumors about it like they track the bull w micro chip lol.  I read on mossbacks website that you can call him and bid on the phone while he's at the auction.  Rich people stuff.

I agree with both of you to some point on this. They are not above the law and should be punished the same as anyone else. They put in there time and I'm sure work their a$$es finding the animals for clients, IMO if we all could do what we love to do for a living we doing the same thing. Spending time in the woods, pursuing the beasts and making money. Hunting guides are needed and important, they are just another tool you can use (like a GPS, Compass,Etc.). As far as not being able to be in the books if you use a guide.... Come on- so if a guy has a better scope on his riffle than you does that mean he can't be in the books either? Some people can afford better equipment than others and a guide is expensive piece of equipment.

Just to clear it up they are not trespassing, those of you that are saying they are are way off base.

Maverick, the tag holder is out there hiking every day, "earning it". Don't hate the player, hate the game. Most do not have the means to purchase the tag, does that make those that do have the means bad people? It says a lot about a man that judges someone by rumor or finacial status rather than waiting until they meet them in person.

Since there are so many experts out here, why don't you haters tell us all how many days the tag holder has been out there hunting for his elk, it should be easy since he was seen trespassing all over the place. :chuckle:

I think you all would be shocked to know how long he has been scouting/hunting/hiking this season.

I have no problem what so ever with this gentleman and his tag. If he chooses to spend his money for the right to hunt as the tag dictates then so be it. If my neighbor has a better house than mine so be it if he chooses to spend more money on it than I do. I am willing to bet that the ones that are making the unbacked accusations are doing so out of jealousy. These accusations are just another reason why the hunting community has such a tough time uniting. :bash:

Let me be very clear, I have not seen anything but am only saying what the talk of the land owners and friends are around where i live. Some of you guys are taking this way out of paportion and in my opinion are making yourself look like a *censored* by the words your saying or typing. jealous, not a chance, hell i hope the guy wacks a big one but i still however dont agree with the tag. Someone is talking like we are all just PC hunters, those of you that think like that from what is typed make yourself sound like the talker. Like i said before i have nothing against MB, but they dont run the mountains or anyone else for that matter. Someone tell me how you would or could hold a treaspaser, you going to put a gun to them? you going to shoot them if they walk away? you going to physicaly restrain them? I would say if so you would be eather looking at a law suit or mabey getting your ass kicked. I talk to the law inforcment around here and it isnt just that easy to go catch a treaspaser. Do any of you even have land? my family does and have been through this before. It is too bad some have to go to extremes to eather get what they want or do what they want, that goes for on here and out there.

I know the the holder of this tag, he has busted his a$$.  Its sad that we think the person that has the Gov. tag is lazy, he's waiting for the right one. For that amount of money I don't blame him.

Julie, are you talking about Tod? Tod has the Eastside raffle tag, Kevin has the Governor Tag. Just wondering, Tod is a hard huntin ol buzzard, DIY type of guy. When he kills one, he'll have earned it. Later

Brad, or Rafflemule on here has the eastside elk raffle tag. I think Todd has the southeast combo raffle whatever you call it deer/elk/bear choose your poison raffle. I might be wrong about what Todd has, but I'm completely sure it's not the eastside elk raffle tag.

I'm glad this topic has gotten a little more sensible. You can't blame anyone for purchasing a quality tag if they can afford it and it's for sale. I don't care how hard they hunt, that is up to them. If you don't like the system then work to get it changed, but I don't think it's benficial to bash another hunter unless you know for certain he has tresspassed or broken laws. I hate to see all the bashing unless its based on solid truthful information, only then I would say it was deserved.  :twocents:

I just wanted to add so it is also clear, the guys that buy the tag, i have nothing agains any of them.
I guess what i really dont agree with is the buying a bull type of hunt, some seem to do it and some seem not to.
also like i said, i only have what the land owners have said to me, i also have not included all the details of the people that treaspass on the private land for a reason.
I just wish people would respect others land.
I really want to see the bull this guy get.

Well said Dale, some of these comments are slanderous, defamatory and just plain lies. Do these guys really believe Kevin would risk his name, his company and everything he has worked for just for a few more inches of bone on the head of an elk? :chuckle: The green monster of jealousy has reared his ugly head once again, unbelievable!

Seams kind of dangerous if they are armed and so are you and you are asking them to drop their weapon to be tied up with zip ties.  This might provide an opportunity to get shot if they feel that you are endangering their lives or their kids lives.  I would think a video of them and posting them would be a better solution.  But that is my way not yours...  I am cool with how you want to handle it.

Man, we as hunters can be pretty self destructive can't we?  I love this time of year, and hate it at the same time.  It's when all the hearsay, lies, and half truths come out.  I have seen a lot of mud slung about the MB group over the years, and never seen one shred of legit evidence to support it.  But every year it comes up.  And for this Gov. tag holder.  Feel bad for him.  Able to afford a dream hunt and a whole lot of people that don't know him from Adam dragging his name and ethics through the mud.

Oh, but so and so told my aunts neighbors friends dentist....It's rediculous....I'm debating on whether to post pictures of my spike, or raghorn (if I'm lucky enough to get either) for fear that it will be called out as photoshopped!

Yes I do own land and it is as simple as putting zip ties in your rig and zip tying up the *censored* that is trespassing

I would think that would be a crime to tie someone up against their will. I would think you will be leaving your land in handcuffs. My family also owns land we tell the tresspassers to leave if we know we have kicked them off before then we call law enforcement. I have also taken pictures of them and one picture of a illegal animal that they killed. Call Fish and Game gave them the photo and that was it. WDFW did what they do and issued a ticket.

I wonder what Bigtex would have to say about the zip tie thing.

This is exactly why you don't see these guys post pics or stories from their hunts too, it's too bad because they have good pics and info to share.

But I am so curious because I believe if you have contacted authorities you can detain someone until the authorities arrive. (Citizens Detention, similar to citizens arrest but without transport) Could be way off though  :chuckle:

Based on my experience last year on my late deer hunt, I'd say there wouldn't be too much trouble shooting a good bull come December if needed.

It would be nice but will never happen with some of the comments that get thrown around on here. Too bad too because Kevin is a nice guy.

He has several other hunts lined up and will likely start looking again after they are done, mid to late November will have the bulls grouped up again and a little easier to locate, I'd be surprised if he went back out on this tag until then. :twocents:
