Anyone seen or heard and Rut action going on yet from elk west of I-5 in SW Wa.
Just curious..
:)

100% in the rut!
-
yep they are bugling and some bulls have cows
-
Ya just really starting to rut good!
-
I was hoping they'd hold out a little longer.. Muzzy season should still hold some good rut opps.. I was out scouting in the rain last weekend and didnt see much action.. But figured cool mornings and now some more sun and fog in the am and they'd start going off.
Getting excited!
-
They seemed to quiet down a bit in that rain, though we did have one going a bit on Sunday. Should continue to be good!
-
Went out tonight and the bulls are on FIRE!
-
Lots of rut activity the last 3 days of archery season in SW Washingtion. Heard probably 5 or 6 bulls and several very excited cows.

Every herd is different.

The rut is definitely in full swing, but in the area I hunt it has got to be nearing the end soon, they've been screaming their heads off since early september. I agree the rain muffled them a little but with the light hunting pressure from archery season in most areas due to fire danger, the muzzy season should be a good one. If we can keep the idiots from bugling out of their truck windows from every landing it would help to keep the bulls vocal just a little longer... wishful thinking there
Good luck guys

pre rut has been going for a while, I know I have herd the bulls yelling for two weeks now
-
Rut, pre rut, whatever you like to believe.......
On opening day (Sept 6th) we had a satellite bull come in to cow calls, and another bull a short distance away did not like it when we bugled after cow calling the one in.
I know AT LEAST 3 different herds in the area had a bull accompanying the cows, with a couple satellite bulls that were not welcome by the herd bull.
Answers to location bugles was almost immediate, even in the middle of the day.
Had one bull completely lose his cool when I started raking after a few cow calls and estrous whines, I would say (as I always do) that "the Rut" began in late August, and is probably peaking right now, with continued activity until mid October.. :twocents: like it is every year :twocents:
