My 13yr old son has a buckhorn and shoots it great but its having a issue with breaking the cap and plugging the nipple, Ive tried musket and #11 caps and it has the same affect has any of you heard of this issue and can you help me

Has the nipple broken more than once? Not that it should in the first place. Two buddies hunt with the same gun - for about (5?) years and no problems. They both upgraded to musket nipples for hotter ignition. The musket nipples are larger too. Maybe your firing spring is too stiff??? :dunno:

It brakes about every other shot I have both musket and #11 nipples and it doesn't seem to matter Ive thought maybe it was the spring but also was thinking of filing down the nipple a little what is your thoughts

If I read your post correctly, it's your caps that are "breaking"? That is normal, at least in my experience. And yes, they will plug up the nipple, so for your next shot, you just want to be sure there are no metal fragments plugging the hole. That's why you need a nipple pick.
