Nope. Very few elk. You won't have to worry about competition though.

It is any elk, well because there are not any elk, every elk killed in 204 i would guess is killed on private property by locals or people with permission..i know of 3 elk killed on one piece of property on the same morning, watched by locals and the weather worked in thier favor that morning, 9 elk killed in 204 by modern hunters and 1 by archery....for the sake of argument there are no elk in 204, just passer by's....

Never seen an elk there in the dozen or so trips I've been in the area.  I would look farther east.

We have a cabin, real close to the lake. We were up there last week Archery hunting for deer. Saw 21 elk with 3 bulls. All on private property, they stayed there the whole week.

Not to sound like a d*ck, but after reading about your bear hunting debacle you have absolutely no idea what you're in for now. Bears are tough, yes, but everything about elk hunting is at least twice as hard.  :twocents:

Just keep this in mind and make sure you ARE prepared this time. No excuses, you'll be tarred and feathered if you come on here telling everyone you lost a big bull but you can't get out because you wake up at 11:00.

Start preparing EVERYTHING now and get out there and smack a big one!!! Good luck to ya man

A lot of public land. Okanogan National Forest comes to mind....

I know people that live up there and they do see them. Few and far between, but, you might be the one to get one. I think I know the rancher that owns the " private land " they are on. The locals come first if you know what I mean.

I think someone is pulling your leg...either the taxi or the hunters are feeding someone a line of crap.  But you are still young and bound to believe everything you hear...so good luck soldier. But I know for a fact I wouldn't waste a minute of my time elk hunting up in that area.  Now deer hunting is a whole different topic.

Are you for real? Try Gmus 328 & 329. There are a few elk in Okanogan county but they are hard to find. Even the locals have trouble finding them. Better have a good rig, the roads in the Colockum are pretty rough. Then you'll need to take a walk to get away from all the people.

Drive to E.Wenatchee, cross the bridge into Wenatchee, hang a left and head up towards Mission ridge, hang a left at the basin loop road. Hang a right onto the upper basin loop road( Black Lake ) and start humping. You have from there to west bar to kill a elk and plenty of them. That's the closest your going to find elk to Chelan.
