i was useing the lightning jack sound off a old logging road in some dnr land that me and my son hunt. i hung it in a tree limb on the side of the road at a cross road. this road does not get used any more it is grown over. called for about 20 minutes with a screaming jack at the end. i look down by the call and all the sudden i see some thing looking at the call hanging from the tree limb. could not make it out at first. but noticed the ears and head i new it was a bobcat. my son was keeping watch looking behind us. i told him look something is standing there. first bobcat i have ever saw. he stuck around for a few minutes and then he moved on. i could of shot him as he was broadside and then he started looking our way. not sure if he caught movement or what. we were wearing sapper suits similar to gillie suits just more easy to move around in. forgot to buy a small game license so i could not shoot him. we were trying to call in coyotes. i new i should of got a small game but did not think about that when i got my elk and deer tag. :bash: i will wait a few days before i call this area again. dont want him to become call shy. picked up a small game license and bear and cougar tag for my son if i call him in again i will let my son take him.

That's awesome! Now you will be hooked forever.

my son likes the predator hunting more than deer hunting because you never know what will come in.

That is a cool story. I would love to call in a bobcat. The only time I've ever seen one was right here in town. I was standing in the street talking to this guy about 4pm and all of the sudden this cat comes sneaking out of these trees right behind a house in a regular neighborhood. He was stalking a big crane that was in a detention pond accross the street. The cat came right out in the middle of the day, in the middle of the road, hops on the fence in one easy leap and into the pond area. Bird saw him sneaking around and flew off, you could see the cats body language change and slump down like 'ahhhh dangit!' It was right in a big neighborhood that is behind a strip mall with Starbucks and Fred Meyer, just think if all those people knew what was sneaking around back there - they'd be freaking out! I had time to run to my truck and get my camera to take pics - I will dig them out and post a couple.

Here are those pics I was talking about. The orginals were pretty dark so I lightened these up and they may be a bit grainy. In the 3rd pic you can see him under the guardrail near the left side of the pic just to the right of the green post thing. In the last one all you can see is the glow of his eyes. It doesnt look as big in the pics, almost like a house cat?? But it was a bobcat and waaay bigger than house cat for sure!
