Title: It was going to happen
Post by: Mandownitis on October 02, 2011, 07:14:28 PM
I started with one camera last year at this time.  Had fun and got number two.  Then I got a third one for my birthday.  Never had any trouble with the first two.  I put the third one up last month and let it soak for 3 weeks.  When I checked it two weeks ago I had a spike elk and three archery hunters.  So I went back today to move it to a more remote location.  Well,  I was too late.  GONE!  I had a bad feeling when I set it.  On a trail that was too close to a road.

Live and learn.  Out 150 bucks..

I'll never understand why people take things that aren't theirs.

Sorry to hear that, but I think you are a new member of a growing club. (not that you wanted to join it)

By the way, I am a member.

sorry to hear, to bad a guy couldn't hook up 440 volts to their cams, just for a little extra character in some of your photos....  :chuckle:

Rig a solar powered fence charger up the tree beyond reach.

I've got cams set on broken cams cams to try and lure in a thief.  It's actually more exciting than trying to catch pics of animals. ;)

I don't put my trailcam out (unless it's on private property) because sometimes people will track down their elk or something and the elk happens to run by it and them little suckers will snatch it and get a elk

I had a problem with tree huggers stealing my cams off private property on the westside. So with a label maker I put "UW Dept. of Ecology" with my phone number. The next time they pulled my camera they called my number and I fed them some bull about doing a blacktail deer habitat study and deer behavior. They were very surprised when the cops came to pick up my cameras for me. I like to use lockboxes now but in some cases I just try and outsmart them.

 :yeah: Great Idea....! :yeah:
