Title: Kids hunt in GMU 124
Post by: cossacksam on October 10, 2011, 06:36:11 AM
I know it's last minute but I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to take the boys hunting this year (due to work) until this morning. Unfortunately it's been a busy summer & we haven't had the opportunity to do any scouting.
I usually hunt Foster Creek & St. Andrews but all I am focusing on is my boys, this year, & thought their odds would be better in the Mt. Spokane GMU (any whitetail) but have never hunted there myself. Trying to get my 11 yr. old his first deer, I'd appreciate any info you could give.
Thanks.
Sam

if he's fine with a doe, there are landowners in the area that would love to let a youngster tag one!

A doe would be great.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to scout the area & get permission so any info or contacts is  greatly appreciated.
Thanks 724wd!

There are a lot of farmers in that area that would love to let a youngster bang a doe

Tons of deer, probably too many down low. 99% private land and the inland empire paper land gets pounded.  If at all possible get there a day early and knock on some doors.  Between day-mount Spokane rd, elk chattaroy rd, big meadows rd you will have no trouble finding doors to knock on.  Good luck, if you can get permission you will have a great chance of notching a tag.
