Title: Hauling Water
Post by: Jeremy Leaf on October 12, 2011, 09:32:33 PM: I'm getting all packed up for Mule deer season and face the same issue as every year with water. The last few years we have hauled it on a wagon with big inflatable tires the 8 mile treck to our hunting spot. I have a good water filter system but where we go is pretty dry and what water is there is usually froze. Anybody got a slick way to haul about 10 gallons of water over rough terrain? Quads are not allowed and I don't own a horse or any pack animals.

Post by: JimmyHoffa on October 12, 2011, 09:39:18 PM: You can get the collapsible water containers. I have one that is 5 gallons. But I'm on the wetside so even when I go alpine I only have to carry it for about 3 miles to a good stream. The one I have is coleman.

Just talked to a guy down the street that uses the liners from those boxes of wine. He showed me one and I have to say it's a pretty cool idea. I am making this trip with a sprained ankle (Done last week) so packing light is a must. We have decided to carry just drinking water in and hope like heck we can find water to take a spnge bath or two while up there. Otherwise we will each have a box of unscented baby wipes and Scent Away wipes. Good luck to everyone and stay safe. :tup:

Post by: heavy hauler on October 13, 2011, 07:33:28 PM: ive set up trashbags on the ground to catch drips and rain water. then pour it in a collapsible water bag , melt ice. anything is better than humping it in :twocents:

We usually take 10 gallons to this spot which lasts 5 days cooking drinking and a few sponge baths. We haul it in a wagon with nice big inflatable tires. I works pretty well but I was just hoping to find a better way.
