Title: Buck Fever, I actually got it.
Post by: SirSpencer on October 13, 2011, 07:27:52 PM
Well I've really done it this time. I went to bed last night with a fever and the chills...thinking oh its just the flu not a big deal at least its now and not starting Saturday morning. I wake up and have a pretty decent sized lump on my lower abdomen, its uncomfortable but w/e. However the Fever is all gone and life is good. Then at work I start feeling really bad again the lump in my ab hurts more and my joints ache. Go to the doctor after work, looks me over pokes prods BOOM "YOU HAVE A HERNIA" (i think thunder and lightning happened at that same moment  :chuckle: )

Depending on the ultra sound we will know if I need surgery tomorrow or I can put it off take it real easy on the field and make my dad and best friend drag my deer for me. Most likely though im missing deer or elk :(

Thats my sob story. Wish me luck at the Dr. in the AM.

Had a buddy just get one taken care of a couple weeks ago he is comming to deer camp still, but I think most of the hunting will be done by his kids.  Hopefully you are in good enough shape to put it off for a few weeks.

Thanks guys. I'm in good enough shape and can deal with the discomfort so as of right now I plan to be hunting. The doc is just worried its infected and that's why i got the fever. So hopefully I will be able to put it off if it's not infected.

This is my little nudge to either suck it up or heal quick. Got this a month ago.

Well results came back. I have a minor hernia but its not strangulated so were waiting on blood work to see why I have a fever. The doc didn't say anything about taking it easy so I assume that means game on! My girlfriend and mom think I'm crazy, but I think the nagging will stop when the back straps are on the table.

Thanks for the support guys and  Thank god its hunting season!

I'm glad it's a hernia and you went to the doctor!!  I'm a fireman/EMT and I have seen the same exact symptoms in people that have an abdominal aortic anyerism (AAA).  and they die...when any stress is put on the artery...like from an elevated blood pressure.  Im glad it's a hernia!!  good luck hunting!!

Well after hunting on the hernia and being fine relatively. I'm still feeling crappy so I go back to the hospital 3 blood tests 3 UA's later we figure out I got MONO. doc says no drinking for a month but hunting is all good. Yet i still have to watch the hernia...ugh. Im a wreck! How ever I have seen more than 20 bucks this season passed on two good ones waiting for a great one. Oh well at least i got why im feeling bad figured out. Good luck out there guys! hopefully this weekend I find the cure to buck fever.

suck it up and carry on, surgery can wait a minute, dont it know its huntn season  :chuckle:, seriously if you can handle the pain i would finish the season and then get cut out, then you will be able to rest a little easier, good luck with whatever choice you make
