Went to Dayton for a fast trip. Weather was great minus the FOG. Saw lots of deer Saturday morning. Passed on two legal bucks. Really wanted to connect on a giant white tail. Just couldn't close the distance. Saturday evening had me glassing saddles. While watching a buck and a few does, what do I catch out of the corner of my eye? A BIG cat.... 400 yrds, watched for roughly 5 mins. It would slip in and out of the trees while walking the saddles. I didn't feel comfortable enough taking the shot. Didn't have a great rest. And I don't know about you. But I wasn't trying to wound a cat to have another hunter get attacked. Oh yeah, cougar scared the buck I was watching. Between all the deer, elk, cougar, turkey, and grouse. It was a great trip. Just get off the road 1 mile and its funny how you don't see any orange.
