HELP!! where or what road can i take off of hwy 410 to look for deer? is there a fs road or just pull over and take hiking trails? or how about mud mountain dam area?
-
Assuming you are hunting modern? I'm not sure what is open for modern since i hunt Archery but if FS road 70 just past Green Water is open it would be worth checking out.
-
Just picka FS road go hunt. Many of the roads have trail heads, park at a trail head and hike up the trail.
-
Couple main roads are closed off of 410, so there is LOTS of area to hike now. Good deer country too.
-
Yes it woulld be modern for deer. Thanks for the help. :chuckle:
-
This if my first hunt so I am not gonna wait for the prized buck. First one I see is mine. The area says any buck. So I assume that means that means 1 spike.
-
There are also lots of gates of hwy 410 before greenwater you can hike/ride past. Some are major hancock areas though that some can drive thru w/a permit. I think the mud mountain dam area might be firearm restricted so I'd check on that first. There's not a whole lot of deer east of enucmlaw which you can also see on the WDFW harvest reports. good luck!

east side is three point

I think Coach is right. As far as I know 3 point or better. Better look again.

units 330-368 3 point or better

The OP is in Auburn. He will most likely be hunting the westside GMU's on SR 410.
-
For some reason I was thinking our side of 410. :sry: Thats the country with all the room and bucks right now. :chuckle:
-
Yes the west side of the mountains near Enumclaw. I would go east but I got noone to go with. My buddy canceled on me. If someone wants to take me that would be cool.
-
Just pack the rig and drive another hour east. It isn't all that far.
-
Time or distance is not the, issue. I dont know where to go. A.d I am new to all this. Maybe late buck or next year.
-
It's worth the drive any where east of the summit

I don't agree......If you just want to shoot a legal buck, your best bet is west of the pass.
Yes there are deer on the east side along 410, but the number of legal deer are not higher then an any buck hunt on the west side.
-
After you come thru mt rainer park on 410, it is all 3pt or better. There are lots of roads to drive up.
-
Anything EAST of the Pacific Crest Trail is 3pt or better. Lot of country to hunt up there, but access is difficult on some of the better areas and it can be THICK. Hunted the area for the better part of 25 years before I moved away.

i beg to differ... there is a ton of deer that just need a stalker, its thick area, best recommendations have a machetty with ya. alot of walkin/bike in areas. check 73,74,75 roads, you can atleast drive up those FS roads and find a nice area to go out and hunt.

You're close to Seattle so you're gonna have a jazillion people hunting the same spots as you. Just be careful and look out for idiots.
