Title: elk herd question....westside elk
Post by: bankwalker on October 23, 2011, 07:15:00 PM
So I think I found the herd of too I'm gonna try to hunt this year. It's about 40 elk and they are always coming in and out of private property. I talked to the land owner about this herd and he said noone really hunts them because there is never any legal bulls left after archery season. There is s public gate down the road and there is never any trucks parked there I guess...matter a fact I haven't seen any during deer season so far.

Anyway to the question. There is 3 raghorn bulls in the herd. They are all 3x3's. Will these elk stay with the herd sense they are all pretty young bulls? I assume they will, but thought I would ask

Needless to say I'm stoked to have a good herd hanging out a mile from my new house. I just hope those bulls don't break off from the herd

most likely they will stick with the herd.  But you never know..elk are wild animals and just as you think you have them figured out they do somethin different!  Usually its the bigger bulls that seperate and go into hiding after the rut and rest up.  good luck!
