I know a guy that has some private land (9,200 acres) over in the 3912 area that charges a access fee and there are lots of elk in there once the snow comes. Just about everyone over the past few years have shot their elk the first day, only a couple guys I have heard needed to come back a second day and that was usually where there were a few guys hunting together and wasn't enough time in the day to get 4 or 5 elk down and cleaned. If you are intersted and want more info send me a PM.

That's one of the reasons I am no longer in the program. Pay to hunt for a cow when its for damage controll, No thanks. I was in the program for 10 years. The other reason, no bull tags. I'm just not into shooting cows, Even more so in someones field. Save them for the youth hunts, elderly and disabled.

And that is your choice. Some hunter don't mind the taste of a good cow. Those looking for trophy hunting in the Master Hunter Program are looking in the wrong direction.
-
They only had one "trophy" hunt (Quinalt) before it went to cows only. They had a few trophy shoots, But shooting a big bull in a field is not hunting it is shooting. And yes it is just my opinion. But its also my opinion that if your going to do all the volunteer work, classes and such then giving out a few good tags is OK. The program is open to anyone so if someone complains about it without actually doing it, That opinion doesn't mean much to me.

its a spendy hunt if its the one im thinking about. Does he advertise on craigslist? no refund either if you dont shoot one.

master hunter to me is like ase certification for auto repair don't me chit. It dosn't make the guy a better hunter he just put the time in to get it . My buddy had a golf course and the game dept turned him onto the master hunters for some problems with the elk. he had guys setting up tree stands just off the greens , he finnally gave them the boot. If the guys gonna charge to hunt then any one should be able to hunt it not just masters .

No reason to hate on master hunters in this thread. This guy was just trying to help some people out. If you aren't interested, keep your comments to yourself

Hey dude... He asked for the price. What is the price?

Yeah I just know this guy and he isn't really having a so called elk problem but he has this land that is with in one of the master hunters areas to take a cow. And to the guy that was talking about a trophy hunt that is not what this is or what I really think the master hunter program is about. For the most part its for damage control hunts and there are a few other hunts but it mostly meat hunts, they way I look at it. I think most people (special in these times we are in now) are looking to fill their freezer with meat. And to the guy that is talking about other people should be able to hunt there. He does allow late archery hunters too. He just doesn't allow hunting during the general season, because he leaves that for his family and friends.

The beating up on the master hunters thing is pretty typical on here unfortunately. Seems that once or twice a year that it seems to happen.

Didn't the hanford thread start the same way ? You must be a master hunter :)

I am staying out of this one :chuckle: :chuckle: :yeah:

I don't have a problem with master hunters, I was one. I have a problem with people complaining about elk damage then charging a fee to solve there problem. Maybe he doesn't have a problem with the elk, I may have jumped the gun on that one but its not the norm, That I know. I also don't like the program, That's why I no longer participate.

exactly and I wont waste my time getting the certification either . I put my time in helping others and pick up trash in the woods anything that requires community service isn't for me . I don't know how doing service makes anyone a master hunter . My belief is those hunts should be for youth and dissabled . I could give you a real good Indian story as well but I wont go there since it's still a open case. I'm allways willing to help a fellow hunter out who's willing to work hard and put his time in , driving up to a field and shooting a elk isn't master anything to me !
