Been going down for 10+ years. I've managed to shoot one spike, but have come close enough times to keep me going back. We'll be camped out on WIllow Springs, white crew cab GMC.

good luck been huntin the blues for 18 years beautiful country no elk though ;)
-
will be down there i will be in an gray jeep cherokee or a black avalanche. good look no elk and down there but fun times will be had by all. and stay out of my honey hole haha. what honey hole up there

I used to hunt the blues every year with. But there are so many elk there that it got too easy. So I switched to archery. Nope still to easy. Homemade longbow, nope still too easy. Finally I hunted elk with a spear. When you can easily get 400" bulls every year with a spear and its not exciting anymore its time to give it up. So I did. Now I hunt the Colockum where there are no elk so its a much bigger challenge.

So if there are no elk in the colockum, why would a guy have a sreen name with both colockum and elk in it? suspicious? hmmmmmm....

I'm not but I did see an absolute monster in there last weekend, off the twin buttes trail. Of course he was dang near in the bottom but man he was a beautiful 7x7 (no cheaters)

More lies and propoganda! Everybody knows the Blues and Colockum have the best elk possibilities and the meat is tender and juicy! He's referring to the Observatory about no elk there and it being the toughest in the State, don't let him fool you! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'll be up there, I will not be hunting due to the elk all being relocated to the colockum but I will be doing some early teaching to my 18mo old son.... playing cards drinking whiskey and talking hunting :)
Woodchuck, I'll try to come find you and say hi, I was too busy during deer and never made it by.
-
Sounds good man, I looked for your truck during deer but didn't see it so I didn't stop. Will swing in for sure if I see you.
-
You two (bluebulls/woodchuck) better leave the big bulls alone. I'm getting tired of going over there and not seeing any elk. :chuckle: Either they have moved to the Colockum or you guys keep chasing them into Oregon.
-
Someone chased the elk out with a helicopter :yike: Any guesses as to who that was? :yike:
-
I will be in the watershed with my elk hunting partner who is damn lucky and draws everything he puts in for. Can't wait to see those steep as s hill sides.
-
Have you been in there? Looked in there or did your "buddy" tell you it doesn't look that bad?

I have never been in the unit but I did look into it when my other buddy got drawn for the wenaha tag a couple years ago. It's the steepest country around I know but we love to kill ourselves when it comes to elk and that's just the place to do it. Fortunately he has friends over there that have horses to get the elk out if we get lucky.
-
awe its not that bad. go down mid slope....the elk have there own freeways down there.

Told you all. There's so many elk in the Blues that theyve made freeways for them.
Elk hunting in the blues. It's so easy a caveman can do it.
-
You guys must be talking about that one way street. You know, the one that all the elk travelled on to get to the colockum.
-
no its the one that takes them to oregon when the season starts here
-
So you say the elk are in the colockum :dunno:

Well, Im new to elk hunting ;) and Ive been looking for a place to hunt. It looks like I have found the place to go. THE COLOCKUM! Now, if I can get a hold of all my friends to tell them where to go. :IBCOOL: Thanks guys
-
So you say the elk are in the colockum :dunno:
Yes the elk convention starts over there about the first week of September and goes through December. It is the middle of the state where the can all meet easily. 8)
-
Ive gotten 27 bulls in to mount this year all from the colockum and they all score over 400, every guy said that there were hundreds of them running around in the colockum like that. Must be the best unit in the state
-
:yeah: :chuckle:
-
I don't like the direction that this thread is going. >:(
-
Oh my bad, correction, that was all from the Margret :chuckle:
-
Does anyone know where a good spot to start is over in the colockum? I'm not looking for anyones honey hole! just a hunter wanting to get into the elk in a area that has the best chance of getting some meat! Thanks in advance for any help :hello:
