Mine are fog-proof/Vortex. I used to use Rain-X for my motorcycle goggles when it was raining. I don't know if it's recommended for fine optics though.

I have a leupold cascades...just like all the rest there fogproof inside the binocs but what about the outside of the lenses...ur vortex binocs dont fog up at all?..i had a hell of a time last weekend tryin to keep fog off in the pissin rain

I haven't had a problem yet, but i hunted early bow and it was hot and dry until the last day. No problems the last day. Now that it's colder, I may. I've only had them for about 3 months.
-
Mine were fine during early elk too..just this cold wet oct deer hunt in the rain is whats doin it
-
I purchased the Cabelas XTs right before hunting season and they worked awesome in the Cascades in early Sept., but as soon as I started hunting October on, with the cold, moist, and rainy conditions, they fogged up like crazy.
I returned them last week for a pair of Bushnell Legend Ultra HD binocs which are working much better with their Rainguard coating.

Warm, moist air will always condense on cold glass (cold anything). Is the "fog" developing on the eyepieces? It's probably from warm, moist air exhaled by YOU. Solution? I just figured this out last night while waiting for Bambi to show. Exhale deeply, then put the binos up to your face while your slowly inhale. Hold your breath until you have to exhale. Just before you exhale, pull the glasses away from your face and blow. It works.

Get a couple good optics rags. I have Leica's and would never put anything like Rain x on them. Most of the tim when mine fog up its because of my sweaty face close to the cold glass. Just keep drying them off not sure theres much else you can do.
-
Pope is correct!!!
Back in my SCUBA diving days we used to put toothpaste or dish soap on the inside of the mask then wash it out before we went in. I am going to try this with my binocs and report later this weekend.
(puts a fine film over the lens) Do not worry, my binocs are not worth anything anyways LOL
-
Carry a rag with you. I have a good pair of Nikons and like all my other bino's, when it's cold and rainy or snowing, they fog up. A good rag is the only to keep them clear.
-
I know its my body heat doin it i was just seein if anyone has found a good anti fog spray that actually works lol..i carry a rag in my pocket...i actually had a full size towel and it was completely soaked half way through the day
-
i carry a good micro fiber clothe. the two antifogs that i like are the dry wipe compound by nikon and a blue goop called cat crap, havent been able to find the cat crap for a long time but the nikon dry wipe compound seems to work well
-
Cat Crap works really good
-
ill have to try the cat crap.........................for the optics :chuckle:
-
theres cat crap on ebay...the anti fog paste and fake turds :chuckle:
-
Shaving cream.
Apply and rub in. Cleans the glass and won't fog.
Works great on eye glasses, and bathroom mirrors, and binoculars.
Cheap also.

i believe you...im gonna order some and try it...just gotta love the name :chuckle:

Pretty funny stuff! But keeping the glass clean helps. Ever notice how easily the inside of your car window fogs up when dirty? Here's another tip. On a cold, sunny morning, you're gonna fog the eye-piece glass just by breathing out your nose. If you forgot to bring a soft cloth, just turn the eye-piece glass to face the sun for 90 seconds. It will drive the moisture right off.

It was on here a few years ago someone posted that their lenses were fogging up, and another member said that Cat Crap works great. I remember I had the same problem with my lenses fogging up, but there was no way in hell I was stupid enough to put cat crap on them :bdid: :chuckle: but once i found out what it really was I have used it ever since with good results

Cottonballs work best

Years ago I cut up a car drying chamois ...cut it into smaller squares. I tied a lanyard onto alot of these and now carry one attached to my binocular lanyard. They work really well at quickly clearing fog or rain drops from the binocs or scope...
-
I got a sham wow with me today...figured it would work as good as a towel
-
Cat Crap. Rub it all over the lenses. It won't fog up at all...
Now that you are done Laughing. There is a product called Cat Crap that comes in a little red flip top tub kind of a blue waxy substance. You'll find it in the Ski section at REI. It's desiged for ski goggles but it will keep the water from condensing in small droplets on binos and scopes or eye glasses if you wear them. I can't say that it is reccomended for coated optics. but it works. You just have to make absolutely sure you don't get grit in it or on your finger before applying it. I got a piece of grit on my finger then used it on my glasses once. scratched the hell out of it before I realized it.
-
I saw a decent selection of anti fog stuff at wholesale sports last night in the optics section. Be interesting to hear how it works
-
funny I didn't see page 2 when I posted. Thought I was first to mention Cat Crap.
