Should have been started already. But still lots of does around but no bucks. Are you guys seeing the same thing?
-
It is full on around Thurston County!
-
Bucks been puching does for 2 weeks now, seen alot at night crossing the road. Been seeing the bigger bucks more as of late.
-
If you still have a tag and are not in the woods rattling right now you are missing out! I've got a buddy up on a spot and told him to put some Moccasin Joes doe scent out and lightly rattle or doe call. Got a text from him an hour ago that he is dragging out a monster. He is not a member on here but I will see if I can post a pic when I get it.
-
They are ruttin hard in Whatcom county. I am seeing a lot of bucks that I haven't seen all year.
-
I'm out right now in Mason County and it is quiet as a church around here. Been sitting on a nice draw all morning with lots of good fresh sign. Using the doe bleat and grunt tube a few times an hour an no response. I don't have any scent wicks or a rattle bag (damn economy) but look to get some before next season. Still many hours of daylight left though so you never know what could happen.
-
Hang in there it can all change in a heart beat. If there is frech sing like you say have faith!! They should be cruising all day so keep your eyes open
-
Seen a lot of deer this last week not one looked like they were in rut, last night 3 out of the 5 does were with fawns and the two 2 pts and a nubbin buck weren't swollen at all(lowlands whatcom county), nothing I'm ready to put my multi-season tag on yet, I know there is a wall hanger out there with my name on it. On a sad note some of you might have seen or heard of the Smith Rd. bucks(TOADS). Well, one of them, Buck vs Car: you know the rest :'(. If anybody has any connections with the city/county. They came out the same morning (17th)and picked him up would love to have a picture of him. Wife tried but all it she got was part of their truck and her side mirror.
-
Yeah, Mason county is no bueno.
-
Everyone I talk to around here says that someone they know (friend/neighbor/son...etc) has taken a 2 point or better out of this sam area I am hunting, yet I have to see a doe. Starting to think everyone is a liar.
-
We've seen NO activity in the sw areas yet.
I got a doe yesterday that had a lot of fat on her.
I haven't seen 1 buck all year.
-
Pierce county is in to the rut good and hard! My friend saw a nice 4 point with a herd of does in the subdivision he lives in. Said he was out in full light watching over his harem!
A fellow employee of my wife said her husband passed up 3 different forkies yesterday in Hancock!!! They are moving around for sure!!!
-
Still just does in my yard, and this time of year I usually see a few bucks come hide in my woods.
They usually hang out for the winter (I bowhunt, and no late Archery in 501 :bash:)
-
Sounds like they are al hiding up at Vail.
-
They are ruttin hard in Whatcom county. I am seeing a lot of buck that I haven't seen all year.
:yeah:
-
No signs of rut in the Ryderwood. Saw some doe's no bucks around
-
That's because you gotta get out of the truck Tikka!!!! :chuckle: Want me to come down there and find you one????
-
Saw a small buck chasing a doe this morning in 501 unit, he was hot on her tail and wouldn't slow down long enough to get a good shot off. but also saw a very big mature doe by herself with no buck around. Honestly I think it's just now starting to pick up in s.w area.
-
Nothing going on in Jefferson Co at all! Zero movement during the day or morning for that matter! :bash:
-
Saw zero deer movement yesterday morning put close to 10 miles on my boots...
-
I seen a pretty nice three point trying to mount a doe while chasing her fawns off on wednesday out in Enumclaw he was definetely rutting good that was in the middle of the day in the sunshine as well. I also noticed the last couple days before we headed home from our hunt in the Peola unit the younger muley bucks were following the does around quite abit. Appears to be an early rut this year.
-
Haha Swatson been slow down here. Couple small ones killed my brothers killed some opening morning but no signs of rut yet. Im taking my step dad out during modern elk I will tell ya about all the big ones I see in elk season then post my buck I kill in extended season :chuckle:
-
We'll see how tommorow goes. Got the urine, grunt tube and ratling horns in my pack, ready to go for tommorow. Ginna hit JBLM TA8, so we will see how it goes :dunno:
-
Buddy killed a nice buck, pretty swollen and on a doe. Still seeing alot of single does tho. Small buck alone this morning as well. Seen a nice buck on does tonight first buck that I have seen real "stupid".
-
Saw no sign of it in Skagit/Snohomish Co areas until yesterday. Found a bunch of fresh rubs and one buck with a doe. He was still thinking clearly enough to take off ASAP and leave her behind though. I saw one small buck today and it had zero sign of a swollen neck.
I also saw small groups of does near my house a few times wednesday and thursday with no bucks around them. Things have been pretty quiet so far.
-
That is a sweet bt!
-
We rattled this buck in this morning, but no shot:
-
Also, yesterday, I followed a trail of bloody deer urine for a couple hundred yards, and then jumped a doe out of her bed. I'd say if the does are coming into heat, the rut is on. Although we still can't find any dumb bucks thinking with the wrong head. They still are only coming out at night. :bash:

Seen one buck.. a little forky.. I jumped him out of his bed.. instinct took over and bam.. my season was done.. Finding all kinds of fresh sign.. but no deer during the daylight hours
-
They are rutting in the islands. 19 inch neck on the fork I took Wednesday and his back legs look like he's had the runs eating too much chocolate. :chuckle:
-
saw a nice 4x4 cross the road tonite on Camano. Neck all swollen up big time
-
Buddy got a 3x5 bt (not counting eyeguards) today that came in to a doe bleat. He got it at 15 yards.
-
We saw about 25 does today and no bucks! all from about 10pm until dark. hopefully tomorrow is the day!
-
I'm in the rut.
-
Heard they're ruttin hard at C-Post.. guess they got the C completely rubbed off the post
:yeah:
-
We've seen NO activity in the sw areas yet.
I got a doe yesterday that had a lot of fat on her.
I haven't seen 1 buck all year.
They didnt rut in there until first week of late archery. Then they went bonkers.
-
No rutting activity for me today :bash:
Did not see one animal at all. called and or rattled in several different locations with no luck.
:ACRY:

I wish it would have been that easy/successful for me! Rattled grunted and bleeted all day to no avail. At 1545 they only checked 3 deer out of vail. I was really surprised I didn't see any deer today, it was nearly perfect weather!
-
We've been out here in Shelton almost everyday. The only sign at all that they are rutting is the fact that there are no deer out in the daylight at all. The does have even disappeared.
-
Here's proof that the rut is on: my brother and I were sitting in my truck this morning, at a gate, just discussing the plan for the morning hunt. I had hunted this location several times in the last week, and our spot was about 1/2 mile walk into the timber from the gate. The only deer I had seen in here previously were in the evening when it was too dark to see well enough to shoot. But I did have pictures of at least three bucks from a trail camera I had set up in there. Problem is the pictures proved that they only moved in the dark. Oh, I almost forgot, we did rattle a buck in the day before, but didn't get a shot at it. We were going to try to rattle in the same location again to see if the same buck would fall for it twice.
Well, we didn't get a chance to do so. As we were sitting there in my truck, a buck walked out of the brush and walked down the road in front of us. This was right at 7:30. So I ended up with a nice 2x3, for no reason other than the luck of being at the right place at the right time. I do know there's no way this buck would have come out in the open during daylight hours if he wasn't thinking with the wrong head.

I shot a 2-point yesterday in Skagit County and he showed no real signs of rutting. His neck wasn't big, he wasn't with any does, and he didn't stink. His tarsals looked like maybe they were started to get pissy but the smell was so weak you had to stick your nose right up to them to notice. Also, there were no rubs around where he was.
-
On my drive home (new home btw) I smelled something awfully familiar...I rolled down the window and sure as crap...there's a black tail buck 10 feet away from the road...Smelled like he was rutting something fierce!
This is down here near Orting...I'd say the rut is in full swing here!
-
Saw three bucks on the 1/2 mile drive home from the dock this morning, including this one behind the house.
-
Rutting in my friends yard, 2 bucks with broken antlers.
-
Coming in on all sides, says it is CRAZY.
-
I haven't seen any rut activity yet around my place. Still lots of grouped up does and fawns. Been seeing the solo buck here and there the last couple days too. I have a good number of does showing up on my cams, just waiting for Mr. Nasty to start showing up :chuckle:

I've been seeing bucks chasing doe around in Mason County before the regular season ended. This season was good to me and my buddy's 5 out of 6 have got there buck so far. We will see how the extended buck treats the last guy.
-
Funny I just checked one of my cams and have a decent 3x4 with a doe with him on it :chuckle:
