Only 4 days til head out for elk camp, :IBCOOL: hoping to see more animals this year than last. Anybody got any news from the area, not looking for hunting spots I have those :) just if there have been any elk around this year. Been to busy at work this year to get away and go look, but will be there Friday, just thought I would throw it out and see if anyone has been seeing any elk in the area. got drawn for the antlerless tag so helps with the odds a bit.

Good luck! The antlerless tag will help for sure.

Seems like the last couple years it's been a little bit harder to find them, last year put alot of miles on the boots and covered alot of territory and was towards the end of the week before we found some fresh sign. Still always a good time, ;). Just wondering if anyone has been in the area and seen any. There was a lot less people there last year and most pulled out before the week was up and moved to other areas, hope that with some time the change in that hunt will allow the herd to rebuild some.

I live in Glenwood and I have not seen any elk nor elk sign since April. except the ones on the refuge of course. And I'm not just saying cause I live here either. I spend a lot of time every year hiking and scouting. In fact very few deer killed here this year, well the cats have gotten quite a few but not the hunters.
-
Piss poor all of over the place here. Only about 25% of the deer that there has been. I know a few guys that spend a lot of time on the wood in that area and they are blown away by the loss of deer and elk in the area. Just the same as we are here :bash: Dam cat lovers!

yup, bring on the dogs I say!

Amen!

Definitely need to bring back the dogs, every year there is less game. I have hunted west klickitat and Grayback for 22 years some areas don't hardly have any deer and others about a third of the population of the early nineties. The elk herd is on a decline with a low population to begin with. There is a surplus of cats and bears. Something needs to be done to keep the predator populations in check incidental hunter harvest isn't cutting it.

Well I am bringing all my tags :mgun: so tell me where is a good place to look for a teddy or a kitty and I will not hesitate :guns: to make a couple less predators up there to eat the deer and elk :hunter:, as a matter of fact there will be at least 8 kitty and bear tags in camp. Any ideas of good bear and kitty areas and we will try to call something in if you think that will work. Seen both down closer to the klick in the past but we were all over the place last year and didn't see much. Heard about some killed real close and in town (Glenwood) down at the store and the Shade tree, seriously kitty or teddy sausage taste just fine. :chuckle:
