My uncle is hunting the little naches. They have had a great season two spikes down and a bear. Well then they went to check on there ATV trailers and found that three of them were pushed down the mountain and the other had three of its tires slashed. I guess the other camps in the area are mad they are doing so well. If anyone has any knowledge of this please pm me. They were able to wench the trailers out one was a little damaged, but come on people if you have a problem go talk to someone do not destroy there property.
-
That sucks. What a bad way to end a good season. I doubt someone would do this just because they've had a good year. Did one of the members in your uncles camp have an altercation with someone else over an animal or a hunting spot? Do any of them drive closed roads? Did they maybe block a road off (on purpose or on accident?) Maybe they were just anti-hunter. :dunno: The reasons I gave seem to be a better reason than just your uncles camp did really well. I hope that you guys catch whoever did this. I hate people who vandalize peoples property. Again this is horrible.
-
Again one more reason why I hunt with a bow and not a gun.
-
No altercation. It is a new camp, but they have hunted that area for 2 years. No one has talked to them or anything. Even if they did something wrong come on people this is not the way to solve it. yes this is why i to hunt archery.
-
I meant 25 years not 2. Sorry
-
Idiots, I dislike idiots. Why take their frustration out in someone who was successful? Sorry for your uncles troubles.
-

I did not see where he specified a weapon he was hunting with. :dunno: What does a choice of weapon have anything to do with this.
Sorry to hear that.

Maybe it was Colockum? Just a couple weeks ago he was advocating vandalizing people's atv equipment for driving on closed roads: "I reported a blatant road violation (didn't even stay on tje road) nothing happened. Waste of my time. For now on they get mountain tuneups. IMHO its not vandalism if they're trespassing."
Not serious about it being Colockum, but I couldn't help but point out the humor.

coul've been a bunch of idiot teans. i know plenty of idiots in there late teens and early 20's that will screw with poeples property just for fun... no reason at all,... i hate to admit,.. but i used to hang out with idiots like that... (was part of the idiots) we would just do stupid stuff like pick up somebodies little Geo Metro and carry it to the middle of a street or something,.....
so,.. just saying,.... it might not have been someone who was mad,.. could've just been some idiots that like to fu%^ people's day up.
-
your right it could have been. It is just to bad.
-
WSU I know you were kidding. I was kidding about that statement. Well sort of.
NWBREW of course it was a rifle hunt. Rifle elk is going on right now. Do you think he waited a month plus after bow season to post this???
And yes way more bad stuff happens during the rifle season than during bow or muzzle loader. Does more crime happen in a big city or a small town???? Same concept.
-
I had a large cooler full of food and Diet Coke stolen right out of my camp in the Little Naches back in 2005. And this was during the early muzzleloader season. So it doesn't only happen during rifle season.
It's amazing what people will do when they know their victims are most likely well armed. What if I , or my hunting partner, had been in the tent when they drove right into my camp and stole all my food? Somebody may have ended up with a bullet hole in them. I hope someday one of these camp thieves/vandals DOES get shot. It would serve them right.
-
Where were the atv trailers parked? You mentioned they had to go check on them??

I sure hope not. It would be aweful sad for someone to get killed and for someone else to go to prison over a cooler of food.

Well, there are people that use bows during the modern season, the tag allows it. Some have no choice but to use a bow. Though, you are probably right.
For the OP, it really sucks to hear about things like this occurring. Sorry I can't offer anything better, but in the future maybe they could leave some hidden trail cams and have more info to work off of.

Well, unfortunately, that's what's going to happen, with this type of crime becoming more and more common. And I doubt a person protecting their property would be going to prison. It's just like if someone comes into your home at night while you're asleep, and you end up killing them. You have a right to self defense whether it's in your permanent home, or a temporary home (camp).
-
sonds like a good reason to conceal a game camera where your vehicle is parked or camp so you can at least catch evidence of the perps. :twocents:

I can tell you the legal analysis is completely different if someone breaks into your home at night than it is if someone is stealing your cooler of food. Not sure where you got your info but I'd be careful shooting someone for stealing your cooler.

I'm not thinking of someone simply stealing a cooler, but coming into someone's camp with the intent of stealing, and not knowing someone is in camp. So a guy comes out of the tent to see the lowlife's stealing his stuff, has a handgun on his belt, and the criminals are also armed. Guns are pulled and people get shot. You don't think that could happen? I do, and I'm pretty sure the innocent guy sleeping in the tent would not be charged with murder for protecting his life.

:yeah:
there have been a number of legal cases in WA where a home owner has shot a person breaking into their car and been charged with assult, manslaughter and maybe worse. One such incident the home owner shot the car prowler through the arm with a compound bow. He was convicted of assult with a deadly weapon if my memory serves. Castle doctrine does not apply unless they are breaking your occupied residence. Read that your tent or camper if you are out on a hunt.
-
Man, is it always this bad? I've read probably half a dozen really crappy stories this year about people getting animals stolen/taken from them, vehicles getting broke into, fights, this, and all around A-hole-ishness going on in the mountains. It's like a damn free for all out there!
-
The trailers were parked up on the ridge right above there camp.
-
I sure won't shed a tear when some dirtbag thief or vandal gets his a$$ shot while he's out perpetrating these crimes.....and I hope the victim doesn't get in too much trouble.
-
The last year I did archery all the camps around us where getting hit. generators, axe's, chain saw and all sorts of stuff we never got hit probly cause we always had someone in camp and we where hidden off the road a bit. :dunno: this happens in every hunting season theres just more people out so its just a # game.
-
Sounds like wild, wild west justice. Maybe these ATV's were where they weren't supposed to be. While I don't agree with that type of behavior. The thought of just the same has crossed my mind. Just a thought, I have no idea about any of the circumstances surrounding the vandalism.
-
After reading some posts on here, I'm not suprised at all :dunno:
Everytime the topic of quads and ATV's come up on this forum, there's at least 1 person who threaten to slash tires, roll them off cliffs, shoot the engine out, pull oil plugs, blah, blah, blah...do a search and see what some fine folks have to say about quads. Maybe one of your fellow hunting-washington.com members is to blame :pee:
-
They are allowed there. guess i should have not posted. Just trying to find out if someone saw something. Did not mean to turn this into pointing fingers at anyone. This was wrong in any circumstance. Quad riding area or not. new camping spot or not. Where is the world coming to when all we do is point fingers or accuse others. We should be teaching the youth and enjoying the outdoors not having to worry about if someone is going to steal or disturb our hard earned things. sorry

:sry: Just having fun...
From what I can tell, most people on here would stop the a-holes from doing what they did. They wouldn't have gotten very far if somebody on here caught them in the act.

Sounds like they were on a trailer. No law against that!

And yes you should have posted here. People need to know that there are creeps out there ready to destroy your property. It's crap!

Jerks like this need to be made to pay, make examples of these low lifes, make them wish they were dead, i cannot abide a thief, vandall all they are is a bunch of :puke: cowards. to bad for your family but its the price you pay hunting in the patch.

Dang...I'm sorry to hear about this....I'm NOT above baiting the truck with tainted gas cans - its AMAZING how much sugar some 50%gas/40% alcohol/10% water will pick up especially if you warm it a bit......its always fun to see the miscreants walking.
Seriously...who is stupid enough to steal from/mess with heavily armed folks? :dunno:
Years ago we had some firewood thieves in the Manastash, they repeatedly stole the camp wood we cut...would drive in when we were all out of camp and load up the pile. One guy had a muzzleloader and another had tools...we bored a hole down the center of a smallish firewood chunk and filled it with Holy Black, then made a plug and drove it in carefully...then touched up the end with a chainsaw and some mud. All camp members were carefully briefed to NOT use THAT log.
A night or two later, after that log also disappeared in a mid-day wood raid, there was a KA-BOOM in a camp a half mile away and across a canyon...
Bummer Dude... :yike:
-
that is great. They put game cameras up. we will see.

Can't say I condone placing explosives in your fire wood and hoping someone steels the log and blows up the whole family. You've taken what is a petty crime and added your own criminal negligence to the mix which could easily result in the death or dismemeberment of an innocent.
So if the fire wood theif's wife is cuddling a baby by the fire did the baby deserve to be blown up too? This goes against every possible ethical use of black powder or any other shooting/ammo supply. :bdid: I'll admit it's funny to think about a theif getting his A$$ blown off but explosives being used in this manner are bound to have unintended consequences.

Great story Woodswalker. :chuckle:
