Anyone using federal fusion ammo on elk? Particularly out of a 308.
If so, how do they hold up

I know this is not the answer you were looking for but with my .308 I use winchester and have not had a problem with one shot, one kill. I have not had a deer or elk walk/run more than a couple of steps before falling flat.

:yeah: I reload almost all of bullets BUT I have bought fusions for my son and he has killed 3 deer with fusions out of his 7mm-08 and not one took more than a couple steps before tipping over ...For a factory load I THINK THEY ARE THE SHEET and actually my brother in law has bought them for his son and he shoots a 25-06 which he to has had no problems

i've shot some stuff with .30/06 150 gr. fed. fusions. they did the job. 2 elk and a handful of deer. when they hit bone, they're pretty brutal. lots of bloodshot meat, but that happens with most bullets.

I shoot them in my 270 and 300 win mag. have yet to shoot anything with them with the 300 but have taken a couple deer with the 270 and they do the job. little bloodshot but i any bullett in my 270 does that i think.

All except hornadays... :chuckle: :dunno: Just had to say that :sry: I was going to take a picture of my deers entrance wound and exit to show everyone that there was very very little blood shot meat on my deer ...140 gr hornaday out of a .270 ...broke one rib and went out the back ...shooting up hill ...the exit hole was about the size of a quarter and hardly any damage at all !! hornaday interlocks are the best bone crushing bullet I know of !!!!! :dunno:and they seriously hold together :yeah:

that may be BH45, but 140 gr. hornady boat tails from the '70's in my .270 will flat RUIN the front half of a deer! :yike: my dad would get so pissed at me when i shot them in the shoulder! :chuckle:

Right on. I have had great luck with fusions on deer with my 243 when they duration hit the market. I just didn't know how they would work on elk. ill be shooting 150gr fusions for elk
I have a box of hornady 150 sst's, but after 2 deer being shot with my rifle using them I have found the bullets did not hold up good. (both pass through shot, but left bullet fragments on both deer)
