Me and FC went last weekend. My first time. We ended up with 6 each for two days. Not bad considering the conditions. Smoked up my first batch Monday - Dang! That *censored* is good!
The wife and I bbq'd a coupla fillets just because there are so many who say it's terrible and I wanted to know for sure. Not bad! It's not kings, coho, or sockeye. But jaysis people! It's good eatin' sho' nuff. Actually, I'd say there just ain't much flavor period comparatively. So dress it up, prep it with more flavorful rubs or what-not. Methinks there are some finicky eaters around here.... I wouldn't wanna say snobby but.... :chuckle: Okay. I guess I just said it. ;) Still, the smoked stuff is incredible.

My Dad has been catching a few bright ones off of his bulkhead on Totten inlet. I was out there last weekend and the bay is packed with fish. He has been catching them with a herring under a bobber. He chucks it out when the schools come by and lets it drift into them. Works pretty good. He does the catch and release thing or gives the badly hooked ones t the neighbors. I might take the kids out there on Sunday to see if we can catch some for steelhead eggs.
