Well if the draw stands I am going moose hunting in one of these 4 units. I'm going to need some advice so lets hear it, I know we have some past tag holders on here. Or any of you locals that have your pulse on moose in these units.

 Right on!!!
Congrats, I can't help pointing you in the right direction, but way to go!
-
Ridge, you should get ahold of SHANEWA300. That guy knows an area with a world record bull around every tree!!!. He even has the sheds to prove it. Come to think of it, I dont think we have seen them yet. :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
RR:
You told me you were drawing a moose tag. You must have God's right ear !
Go kill a MONSTER !!!!!!
-
Congrats Ridgerunner, even though I went 0 for 5 I hope the drawing holds up and you get the 49 tag.
:brew:
-
Fag! ;)
-
Tell your moose guide to quite drawing tags.
-
ya, that was not in the plans, you can squeeze a couple days in I'm sure between your elk hunts. :chuckle:
-
Gaul dang! I wana go too! I can pack out a half of tenerloin for ya :chuckle:
Moose guide , Quit drawing tags! There I said it for him ;)
-
I say we get a Mossback of Hunting Washington crew together and go put a few radio collars on some bulls for ya. Then we'll have a big ol round up come seaon. know anyone with a chopper. we will need eyes in the sky :chuckle:
-
If your moose guide is all tagged out, there are a few backup guide/photographers around... ;)
-
Fag! ;)

Just take your time. There are lots of moose in 49. Huckellberry is another good one.
-
I'm up for a moose drive :chuckle:
-
I'll love to see your face Ridge when you wlak up to that thing and its time to start gutting. Watch that left foot, its a bitch if it twitches. :chuckle:
-
Yeah I want to see the pics of him all up inside that thing like he is baiting a king crab pot !! :chuckle: :P
-
I have seen a few big bulls up the 49 in recent years. It is across the vally a ways from our property. Always willing to help out where I can. If I am in the area, I can pack out a pound or two......... :chuckle:
Hell, I would just want to see it on the ground!
Good luck Ridge! PM me if you need help.
-
Just curious....if you drew a moose tag, can you buy it by logging into your wild id profile online....reason I ask is my dad may have drawn a second deer tag but it is not on his 'buy online' wild id profile. If you indeed have it for moose then I would think he drew a much more coveted tag that a second deer tag....
-
Right now I think the most important thing to do is stay level headed until the validation occurs. If this were to be taken away, you might just be SICK.
-
Whatever you do, try not to think about all those 200"+ moose over there. You should tag out in 10 or 15 minutes. Good luck on the validation, fag. ;)
-
:chuckle: That poor *censored* will never live that down. He was elsewhere bragging about that. I think Passion sent it to me. :chuckle:
-
Good Job!
I drey hangman and would be happy to help if you get it. You should have fun.

Okay guys I can't take it any longer. I haven't slept since Friday trying to keep it in and its just killing me trying to get to Monday for the official results. I have put in for 14 years, 49 Degrees and Huckleberry in that order. Friday night I checked and it said "selected". I seriously doubted I would ever get drawn for this tag but it looks like I may finally have. I have sent PM's asking for any help you guys can give me and really appreciate the offers. I consider myself a hunter so I don't need someone to hold my hand but I'm not ashame of asking for help when I know I'm going to need it either. Having watched moose hunting on TV I figure I have about as much experience and knowledge as a 5th grader on the subject and will really be disappointed if I waste this tag. I couldn't even tell you when they rut until I read one of my PM's this morning, thanks Pope I will definitely listen to anything you have to say. Anyhow, sorry about stealing your thread RR, I'm hoping you and I can compare notes and maybe help each other out if we are over there the same time. Congrats to you on your draw, its going to be a experience for me that's for sure.
-
If you get Huckleberry PM me. I spend a lot of time up there and Always see a ton of moose. I have no idea how one scores these beasts but I would not hesitate on a few of these bulls I see on a regular basis. Ridgerunner drew too and I offered the same help. I'll make it a point to bring a camera and try to get some pics for you. I see them all the time but have only taken a few pics. I'll be hunting a bit up there in Aug and sept for my buddies bear and for some grouse so if I get some pics I'll post them up and you can judge for youself. I'll say this without hesitation, if you get Huckleberry and have a week to hunt, you will shoot a nice bull. No question in my mind.
-
What a great time for both of you. I just remember walking around with my gun and thinking, this is so foreign. If I see a huge black moose I can shoot it. It was a wierd feeling to be hunting such a foreign animal to me. I felt lucky.
Take as much help as possible...becuase my moose fell 1/4 mile from the road and it took 2 guys over 8 hours to get it to the car... It was tiring too, just holding up one of the huge legs to quarter it and stuff. Luckily I had snow and could pack my quarters to cool in the snow. However, what if it's 80 degrees and it's 1 mile from the road? It would be nice to have a guy to go buy ice for the coolers and stuff. It's a really fun dilema...

:whoo:

I'm not telling anyone Congrats untill its Official. ;) If it is you better buy the XXXXL Butt Out Tool!!! :chuckle:

Got that covered Slider, I will be taking pics while WF70 removes that section elbow deep :chuckle:
-
My advice would be to take the time to take lots and lots of pictures, I only have 2 photos of the first moose I shot and it was already back at the cabin and none of the second :bash: cause there was a brown bear spotted in the area so we had to move fast.
It will be a bit overwhelming at first but take your time and deal with it the same as you would an elk just on a larger scale, they are not much different only bigger and in my opinion better eating as well !!
I can't wait to see the photos of a successful hunt and read the stories !!!
-

First RR and now you! Looks like I'm gonna have to turn up the training schedule cause I'm gonig to be packing a bunch of meat this fall!
-
Once you guys get the official results let me know as well, so I can help too.
-
I'm thinking if the draw lined up right we might just have to have a first annual Hunt-WA moose camp. :IBCOOL:
-
What dates are you planning on hunting? If it's during Nov I'd love to come back on my break from school!
-
Oh you'll get lots of help........both of you. I don't care how many permits I have. Moose is the ticket. If nothing else a moose calling clinic, you did teach me to bait my own hook for gosh sakes. Gun or bow? for either one of you. I can get them in to about 30 feet or less the rest is up to you. :chuckle: Now I can go public wiht ym findings
-
LUCKY DOGS!!!!!!!
Congrats huntnphool, couldn't happen to a nicer person.
I'm in a post permit draw depression so I'm going to have to go buy some raffle tag chances. I think I have something here, I wonder if my employer would buy into my new medical condition?
-
Yeah I think you should take Wea300 Moose hunting with ya like I did then that way he can write another "Moose Hunting" story. :bdid:
-
All I can say is I'm jealous!! :)
-
Sent you a PM...
-

Is it okay to add a 3rd POSSIBLE Moose permit to the group! My wife possible drew the Kettle, 49 Degrees, Hangman or Spokane!!
She has been applying for 10 years, not a rookie but certainly less time than others.
I am freaking out but she says she won't be excited till she gets her card! :chuckle:

-
Okay its official guys, I am going to need lots of advice for 49 Degree North, as you all know any and all help is greatly appreciated.
-
CONGRATS HUNTNPHOOL! Your number got pulled well before mine, I'm headed to the Hangman unit for my bull. :). The 4th choice comes through again, of the tags I've drawn I've never drawn higher than my third, lol. But I'm going MOOSE HUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
As it turns out I only put down that unit, I thought I had put down Huckleberry as well but I am getting old after all :dunno:
-
Congrats Rob!!! atleast it didnt get your hopes up and take it away!!!! looks like moose and elk steaks this year :)
-
By any chance does 38 count as too old? I forgot what I had put down for the wife also! She got her 2nd choice, HUCKLEBERRY any MOOSE!!!! I don't think I will get much done at work for quite awhile!!
If you get behind a white F-250 with muley license plate 00021 and its just sitting there at the green light, please honk and wake me out of my day dream!!!!
-
Congrats on all the moose tags. Sorry I can't help much, my only experience is chasing a big bull away so 50Cal couldn't harvest it in 2004.
-
CONGRATS to all of you tag holders! Can't help you out much as far as the area goes but I'll be rooting for ya
-
49 degrees unit. Looks like I will have to go further north during bear season to scout around. I don't know how much help I can be up there, but I will give it my best shot.
Hangman is close, but I know access is tough. There was someone on here last year that drew that tag. I don't remember who it was, or if they were successful, but I would do a search and see what you come up with. I will try to beat the woods a little as time allows.
Finnman, I will put the word out we are looking for a big moose up in the Huckleberry unit. I have a good friend that runs the bus garage for the school at Valley, WA. He'll put the word out to his drivers. If they spot one, we can usually get access to the property.
