Title: Trapping question
Post by: pips4bucks on November 18, 2011, 11:01:31 PM
So do you need a trapper's license to trap racoons and relocate them?  We had one get in and killed our hen and 7 chicks.

From what I've seen in the regs thats a really tricky question. You can get a nuisance permit but there's something about not transporting living ones. Just use a high powered air rifle or subsonic .22 Relocate the fur to a taxi.

Seems you have a couple options. You can trap it without a permit with a cage trap, but can't release it anywhere besides the property where it was trapped without a permit. Seems counterproductive in your situation. Other options being raccoon-proofing your coop our euthanasia by lead.

Trap it then soak it in a barrel of water.

The problem with relocating them are many, but one of the big ones is your just moving your problem to someone elses backyard.  Trap him and kill him.  If you don't feel like doing it, this time of the year you can probably find a local trapper who would do it for you.  If your close to Spokane I could do it for you, no charge.

If you haven't taken care of this yet look me up at work and we'll handle it.
