Title: Elk raffle question ?
Post by: Biggerhammer on November 22, 2011, 03:26:22 PM
I have never purchased a raffle ticket, the post by Coachcw just made me a believer  :o. I was looking at the raffle info on the WDFW website and found it confusing unless I'm having a off day.??

Elk (Eastside)   $ 5.90 per ticket   4235  tickets purchased
SEASON DATES   HUNT AREA   BAG LIMIT
Sep. 1 ‑ Dec. 31

Eastern Washington
except GMU 157, those GMUs closed to elk hunting, & those GMUs not opened to branch antlered bull elk hunting

1 additional bull elk

The part I find confusing is " Those areas not opened to branched antler bull hunting"

Does this mean area's that are designated spike only or true spike, would not allow one to take a branched antler bull in these areas with a raffle tag?

But those areas are only spike or true spike only for general season. I look at it from the stand point of if the area has branch antler tags available by draw you are good to go.

And I may be wrong, but are there even areas that are actually spike and true spike only (meaning no draw tags)

I was wondering the same, if branched antler permits were available for the area. Then it would make sense that the raffle tag would be good. I just wanted to confirm this.

any area that has a branched antler permit is open on the east side raffle. the one bob drew was south central so we could only hunt 300 gmu's . If your gonna put in for the multi species tag you better be willing to get alot of time of work !

You need not apply since I'm gonna draw it next year LOL

Now that I look at it, the South Central would be my preference! I spend more time in the 300 GMU's for Elk and all my time in the mid and upper 200's for deer. Your on!  Raffle ticket by the bucket full  I want a elk season like your last Coach!  ;)
